Country Artists to Watch in 2020

It’s that time of year again. Time to move into a new year with new goals, a new attitude and an entire year of brand new country music to listen to!

Here are CMTT’s picks for the country artists to keep an eye (and ear) on in 2020.

Make sure to check out our Country Artists to Watch in 2020 Playlist HERE.

Trea Landon

Trea Landon

Trea Landon is our idea of the ultimate country guy who leans hard on classic country but also has quite the modern country flair. This Georgia boy is building quite an impressive early catalog of easy to listen to love songs with “Loved By A Country Boy” and “Get The Girl.” Trea scored a publishing deal within weeks of moving to Nashville in 2015, released an EP independently with more than three million streams and has since joined the Warner Music Nashville label family.

John King

John King

John King was born and raised in Georiga and has already received praise for his impressive songwriting abilities. John was honored with a Number One hit song for Randy Houser’s “We Went” and watched his own song “Tonight Tonight” climb the charts in 2014. One listen to John’s current single, “Close,” and you will know why he made our list of Country Artists to Watch in 2020.

Madison Kozak

Madison Kozak

Madison is set up perfectly to have a very exciting 2020. Signed to hit songwriter Nicolle Gaylon’s all-female label Songs & Daughters, Madison’s “First Last Name” grabbed our attention and left us wanting to hear more. Since debuting her breakout song “First Last Name,” Madison has dropped three fresh songs: “OMG ILY,” “Household,” and “Click” before years-end (All co-written by her). We expect amazing things from Madison in 2020.

Chris Bandi

Chris Bandi

Chris Bandi is a name you may not be familiar with but after you take just one listen it is a name you will never forget. Chris is not new to the music scene but with his song “Man Enough Now” gaining popularity online we predict 2020 is going to be very good to him.

Caylee Hammack

Caylee Hammack

CMTT has been telling you about vocal powerhouse Caylee Hammack since 2018 but she has grabbed the attention of Music City with her most recent releases “Just Friends” and “Family Tree.” Caylee made her Grand Ole Opry debut in August 2019 and she is not showing signs of slowing down as we ring in 2020.

Hailey Whitters
Hailey Whitters

Hailey Whitters

Hailey Whitters got us listening in 2019 with her song “Ten Year Town.” A song that any struggling music artist in Nashville will relate to. You may have seen Hailey on tour with Maren Morris and Little Big Town this year. 2020 is already pushing her into the spotlight and on the road with Tanya Tucker and Jordan Davis.

eric ethridge

Eric Ethridge

I accidentally ran across Eric Ethridge on YouTube earlier this year as I was surfing music videos hoping to find something new that had some sort of substance. His single, “If You Met Me First” quickly met those needs and became one of my favorite songs of 2019. You can not ignore Eric’s smooth vocals and he’s not too bad on the eyes either ladies (but back off…he’s taken, Eric married Kalsey Kulyk in a beautiful ceremony on 12/3 in Mexico). Eric has been in the studio working on his sophomore album, due out early in 2020.

Gabby Barrett

Gabby Barrett

Gabby Barret first caught the attention of fans on “American Idol” but since has made a solid name for herself in Nashville. Gabby has a clever way with words and her single, “I Hope,” is the perfect example of why we love her. Gabby’s emotional love song, “The Good Ones,” was co-written by Gabby with Emily Landis, Jim McCormick, and Zachary Kale, and was inspired by Gabby’s husband, Cade Foehner, and serves as a love letter to him about their journey together. The newlyweds tied the knot earlier this year in Garrison, TX.

Teddy Robb

Teddy Robb

Teddy Robb comes from my neck of the woods in Akron, OH and he already has some powerful Nashville songwriters behind him. Teddy’s song, “Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You” showcases his laid back voice and was penned by songwriting favorites Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. We are hoping to hear a lot more from Teddy Robb in 2020.

Gone West

Gone West

Gone West is a country power group full of some of the most beautiful harmonies you will ever hear. Comprised of Colbie Caillat, Nelly Joy, Justin Young, and Jason Reeves their years of combined musical experience have resulted in songs that you will immediately fall in love with. The band says their current single, “What Could’ve Been,” is “a good reminder to show love openly before it’s too late, especially in the hardest moments.”
