New and Noteworthy: Josh Phillips

Born and raised in Lee County, North Carolina – an area where brick manufacturing, cotton, and tobacco reign supreme – Josh Phillips captures the nostalgia of small-town life, showcasing “unapologetically honest” (Whiskey Riff) lyrics throughout his music.

Josh began introducing himself to Country music fans playing clubs in his Tar Heel state, developing a steady following, before ultimately rolling the dice and moving to Music City. Now aligned with Big Machine Records, Josh is offering a preview of his gritty, boisterous sound and Carolina drawl, penning all five songs on his LEE COUNTY EP (THE ACOUSTIC SESSIONS).

“I’ve been working on this music for a long time and am pumped to be able to finally share it with the world.” Josh shares with CMTT, “My fans have been asking for new music and the response has been great.”

He recently released a new song “In A Bar Somewhere,” which “showcases Phillips’ knack for writing heartfelt songs rich with imagery and a triumphant chorus that begs to be heard” (Billboard). The songwriter/rocker’s live show is a force to be reckoned with, having performed alongside some of the genre’s top acts including Sam Hunt, Cole Swindell, Chris Janson, Lee Brice and Tyler Farr. Following coveted slots on major tours with Brantley Gilbert and Luke Combs, Josh joins the bill at CMA Fest for the Maui Jim Broadway Stage at Bridgestone Plaza on June 6 in Nashville.
