Country Music Brings Out the Best in the Fans & Artists

Easton Corbin

Last weekend, Country Music Tattle Tale was whisked away to Las Vegas to cover the events surrounding The 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards courtesy of Ram Trucks. The whirlwind of a trip included a sit down Q & A and an invitation-only concert with Easton Corbin, an amazing Saturday full of live music and fan experiences at The Party for a Cause and Ram Trucks Ride and Drive, and hanging out with a small gathering of several thousand people to cheer-on our favorite artists at the ACM Fan Jam.

I love country music for a variety of reasons. I grew-up listening to the twang of a steel guitar and the shred of a bow against a fiddle. But I continue to love it for more than just its sound. Country music is built of people. The fans and artists use unique opportunities like the events surrounding the ACM Awards to build actual relationships with each other. Even while being dragged around from place to place by publicists, they took the time to sign autographs and pose for pictures or just chat with fans who were obviously so excited to be talking to them.

ride and drive

At Saturday’s Party for a Cause at The Linq in Las Vegas, fans waited all day in the sun to catch a glimpse and a listen to their favorite country artist…big and small. Some waited in lines for hours to get an autograph, a handshake or a hug. And, unlike any other genre, the feeling of appreciation and gratitude is mutual. Randy Houser and Easton Corbin both paid a visit to the Ram Truck booth to sign for fans. Each fan got a genuine experience complete with a chat, autograph and or hug. The guys are well aware that without the fans, their dreams wouldn’t be coming true.

Saturday night’s show was indeed a highlight of the trip for me along with thousands of others. The gates opened, and within moments, fans staked their claim on the hot pavement in preparation to be entertained for the next twelve hours. Love and Theft and Austin Webb kicked-off the day on separate stages followed by Jerrod Niemann, Kip Moore, Joe Nichols, Chris Young, and Keith Urban.

Even while on stage, each artist took the time to thank the fans for sticking-it-out on the hot parking lot under the sunshine. Lots of individual attention was given with smiles and hand slaps. The sing-a-longs were loud and boisterous, and each artist seemed to relish in the moment. That is what makes country music great! The artists aren’t just on stage to put on a show. It’s their way of saying thanks to each individual fan that helped make their dreams come true.
