Rachel Wammack Shares Heartfelt New Song, “When I Say Amen”

Rachel Wammack

RCA Records Nashville’s rising star Rachel Wammack has released her impassioned new track, “When I Say Amen.” Written by Wammack, Matt Maher, and co-penned and produced by Sam Ellis, the song offers hope despite circumstances. Listen here.

“I wrote ‘When I Say Amen’ with Matt Maher and Sam Ellis on March 9th, 2018. Almost exactly two years later, Nashville was hit by a tornado. I could actually hear it ripping through homes half a mile away from me while I sat in my bathroom terrified. Then I realized I hadn’t actually taken a second to pray…

Barely a week later, COVID-19 entered the picture…slowly but surely becoming the focus of every day and every conversation. Now people are losing even more…some are losing their jobs, some are losing their stability, some are losing their minds, and some are losing their hope.

Last week I listened to ‘When I Say Amen’ for the first time in a long time, and I felt a voice inside say, ‘I think you wrote this song for…this. Right now.’ I’ve never had anything like that happen to me before.” (See full quote here)

Named a country artist to watch in 2020 by Paste Magazine, Wammack is singled out as a “much needed female voice” by Sounds Like Nashville. After appearing on several dates of Trisha Yearwood’s “Every Girl On Tour” and touring overseas as part of CMA’s “Introducing Nashville” series in 2019, Wammack plans to open select dates for Rascal Flatts and Reba McEntire this year.

The 25-year-old Muscle Shoals, AL native has a “deep-rooted, classic sound” (Wide Open Country) influenced heavily by the rich musical heritage of her hometown. Her songs showcase a “powerful, raw, honest collection” (All Access), which has earned her recognition as the only artist in the genre selected for Entertainment Weekly’ s “2019 Artists to Watch” list. Last year Wammack introduced new music including the shimmering “Enough” and the poignant “Something People Say,” songs she co-wrote that highlight her personal and artistic growth catching the attention of fans and critics along the way. The singer is named one of Paste Magazine’s “10 Country Artists to Watch in 2020,” while earning “2019 Artist to Watch” acclaim from multiple outlets including AOL, Pandora, Music Row, Pop Culture, Sounds Like Nashville,  and more. Selected for CMT’s “Next Women of Country” as well as Bobby Bones “Class of 2019,” Wammack shares “an undeniable air of confidence and sincerity when she performs” (Taste of Country).
