Susie Barker Liles Burchett, mother of Love And Theft Duo member Stephen Barker Liles and Curb | Word Entertainment Director of Country A&R Rebekah Liles, passed away Tuesday, November 5th, after an almost three year-long battle with ALS.

Services will be held on Monday, November 11th at the First Baptist Church of Clarksville (499 Midison St. Clarksville, TN 37040). Visitation will be held that morning from 9 am – 11 am, with the service following at 11 am. Music during the service will be performed by Canaan Smith and Lauren Coplan. A fellowship meal we begin after the service at 1pm.

Many of the country music family is hurting, as Susie was a “mother” to many, making sure to invite industry friends to their holidays and family get-togethers, so that no one spent a holiday alone.

“Lights that burn bright never burn out. She made her mark on me through her unwavering faith in Jesus. I’ll always remember and cherish her kindness to me and my family,” said Canaan Smith. “Her prayers will live on and not return void. God bless you, sweet Susie. Time to go dancing with the angels.”

Close family friends Canaan Smith, Stevie Monce, Florida Georgia Line, Trent Tomlinson, Dan + Shay, Jerrod Niemann, Craig Campbell, Parmalee, Lauren Alaina, Tyler Farr, The Warren Borthers, Charles Esten and more all rallied together to put on two Shine For Susie benefits at the historic Ryman Auditorium and the Wilma Rudolph Center in Clarksville to help raise funds and awareness.

“The love from the country music and ALS community has been overwhelmingly comforting to me and my family,” said Stephen Barker Liles. “We are so grateful for all artists that have donated their time at our events to help raise awareness for this devastating disease. Her memory will live on in all of our hearts and in our ALS charity forever.”

She was survived by her loving husband, Wallace (Wally) Stone Burchett, former husband and father of her five children, Donny Gene Liles; children, Ashley Suzzane Thompson (Scott), Stephen Barker Liles (Jenna), Andrew Jonathan Liles (Angie), Rebekah Ann Liles, Brent Alexander Liles, Wallace (Skip) Stone Burchett II (Amy), Sarah (Sally) Catherine Burchett, Coleman (Cole) Burchett; and grandchildren, Brett Ashley Thompson, Griffin Walker Thompson, Helen Grace Thompson and Quinn Susan Thompson, Jett Barker Liles, Rayni Belle Liles, Aubrey Paige Burchett and Graham James Burchett.

Susie’s mission and message in life was simple, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

Susie’s light will continue to shine through all of those she touched by her love, grace and strength.
