Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean FaceTimes Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 to discuss his new song “We Back,” and how the song came about with Tyler from Florida-Georgia Line. He also talks about forthcoming album, 9, and the various influences on it. He also talks about knowing ‘Old Town Road’ was going to be a hit.

About his forthcoming album 9 and single ‘We Back’ Jason says,
“The album is going to be called just simply 9. It’s obviously the ninth album that we put out, but also is just kind of growing up it was kind of my lucky number, my baseball number that I wore for years and I just kind of always told myself if I ever had a chance to get to the ninth album and make that many records that I just kind of wanted to just call it that. The single ‘We Back’ was a song that my buddy Tyler Hubbard from Florida-Georgia Line called me up and he knew we were in the studio recording the album and just kind of called and ask if there was anything in particular we were looking for the album. And I just said, “The one thing that we’re always looking for is tempos. And just something that’s fun to kind of play in our show that fits what we do.” And he said, “Well, I’m going in tomorrow to write and I want to try and write something for you.” So he went in, him and the Warren brothers, Jordan Schmidt, went in to write this thing and sent it to me the next day. And I just text him back immediately and just kind of said, “Man, this is exactly what I was needing for the album.” So we cut it I think a couple of weeks later. And obviously now it’s the first single.”
