The Dungarees Release Music Video for “Twenty Something”

The Dungarees

Alberta’s fastest rising country band, CCMA award nominees The Dungarees have kicked off the summer season with the recent release of their brand new single Twenty Something. The video comes just in time for festival season, which will see The Dungarees opening for the Calgary Stampede’s headlining act, US sensations Zac Brown Band on July 12 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Known for powerful song writing and warm harmonies, ‘Twenty Something’ is a sentimental track that explores the nostalgia of growing up and moving forward in life. With the melancholic tones of the chorus, “it’s credit cards, it’s college bars, then bigger houses, faster cars, just trying to be somebody but you end up somebody else,” the lyrics are reflective of the yearning of everyday moments that have passed while embracing the beauty in every step of life. The heartwarming video features The Dungarees’ own friends and family, including both drummer Ben’s and guitarist Kiron’s kids, all of the band members’ parents, and Kiron’s 92 year-old grandmother.

Twenty Something is somewhat of a departure for The Dungarees,” says lead singer James Murdoch. “The last year has been challenging for the guys in the band, having lost family members and close friends. That contemplative emotion is reflected in the song Twenty Something. It’s a song about the everyday beauty in life and embracing the moment. The result is a powerful song that speaks to everyone, at any age from one to 90-Something.”

Signed to Road Angel Entertainment in Canada, and Australian label Social Family Records, The Dungarees have been making a splash in the country scene since their 2016 hit ‘I’m Down’.  The momentum didn’t slow down through 2017 with their summer smash ‘Anywhere With You’ – which was produced by multi-Grammy Award winning producer Paul Worley, earning them three ACMA Award wins for Group of the Year, Video of the Year and Rising Star. The track skyrocketed up the Australian country charts, landing in the Top 10 and peaking at #6 for six weeks straight. The Dungarees kept their momentum strong through 2018 with the release of ‘Don’t Hold Back,’ which has racked up over 250K streams.

Festival stage favourites, The Dungarees have a packed schedule this summer with show dates across western Canada and Australia. Kicking things off with a special Canada Day performance in their hometown of Edmonton, the band will be headed down under for a run of live dates throughout August.
