Ingrid Andress Premieres Striking “Lady Like” Music Video

In her brand new official music video for the empowering anthem “Lady Like,” Atlantic Records / Warner Music Nashville recording artist Ingrid Andress continues to prove why Merriam-WebsterUrban Dictionary and the Cambridge Dictionary all might want to reconsider their definitions of what that term actually means. The cinematic video is being exclusively broadcast all day today on all CMT properties with an additional Paper Magazine online premiere in conjunction with YouTube (READ HERE). Paper applauds Andress for “a sound built on clean pop melodies, but laced with country’s swagger and cinematic storytelling in the style of crossover stalwarts like Kacey Musgraves, Taylor Swift and Kylie Minogue,” noting that the singer/songwriter’s “lyrical specificity, moments of self-critical vulnerability and raw vocal gravity makes the genre’s well-worn motifs sound fresh.” Emphasizing the global aspect of this release coinciding with International Women’s Day, London-based online music magazine Line of Best Fitalso shared the video today with its UK readers (READ HERE).

Helmed by director Emma Higgins and her female-led production team, the video’s concept mirrors message found within “Lady Like” of breaking down gender stereotypes to include all the incredible, unframeable women who don’t fit in the box society wants them to. Filmed in and around downtown Los Angeles, the warm, natural lighting and anamorphic lensing created high-end, unique visual set ups with lots of depth and texture. It maintains a light, youthful personality while also incorporating striking and surreal imagery that subvert expectations.

Andress released her debut track “Lady Like” earlier this month (LISTEN HERE) with Rolling Stonecalling it a “slow-burning anthem of independence” and earning her MusicRow‘s DISCovery award. The New York Times has praised her voice for being “steady, calm, [and] alive” with CMT declaring that she is “… arguably one of the most creative tunesmiths to call Nashville home in recent memory.” She was also named on several Artist to Watch lists including CMT, The Boot and Sounds Like Nashville, all before having any music in the marketplace.

Already an accomplished songwriter, Andress has co-writer credits on hits like Charli XCX’s “Boys” and has written with heavy hitters in the music community such as Alicia Keys, Sam Hunt and FLETCHER. She’s currently making a name for herself overseas at the C2C: Country To Country music festivals in Germany, London, and Glasgow, with US tour dates to be announced soon.
