SESAC and BMI,and a host of music industry friends and family packed The Local last night, Tuesday, Jan. 22, to celebrate the success of Stoney Creek recording artist and SESAC songwriter Jimmie Allen’s debut #1 single, “Best Shot.” After spending two weeks at the top of the chart, it fell to number two, only to return the next week for its third week atop the chart. This is the first time since 2012 that a debut artist spent three weeks at #1 with their debut single. This is also the first #1 song for co-writers Josh London, SESAC and J.P. Williams, BMI.

Produced by Ash Bowers and Eric Torres, “Best Shot” made history when Allen became the first black country artist to score a career #1 with a debut single at country radio. On hand to honor the group was Shannan Hatch (SESAC), David Preston (BMI), Tina Crawford (Major Bob Music), Ash Bowers (Wide Open Music), Jon Loba (BBR Music Group), and Josh Van Valkenberg (Sony/ATV). Additional presentations included Sherod Robertson (MusicRow), Brandi Simms (CMA), and Lon Helton (Country Aircheck).
