Grand Ole Opry member Chris Janson has come full circle as an Opry member in 2018. He was invited to join the family on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium in February by Opry member Keith Urban, and in March at the Grand Ole Opry House was inducted as the youngest member of the current cast by Opry member Garth Brooks. Since that night, Janson has made time for numerous Opry performances. The Warner Bros. Records artist returned to the stage of the Ryman Auditorim to not only perform, but to host an Opry segment for the first time on Friday night’s Opry at the Ryman.

“I’ve wanted to host a segment at The Opry since the very first time I got to perform on that stage in 2013. What a year!” said Chris Janson. “From the surprise invitation from Keith Urban, to my induction by Garth Brooks, to hosting my very own Opry segment at the historic Ryman Auditorium, it has truly been unbelievable. I am so honored to be a member of one of the most revered institutions in the world, The Grand Ole Opry. It is my second home and an incredible blessing to me and my family.”

As part of his hosting duties, Janson performed his platinum-selling, No. 1 anthem, “Buy Me A Boat,” to open his segment. Then, he introduced one of his favorite bands of all time, Sawyer Brown, who performed 3 songs and received a standing ovation. As Mark Miller was leaving the stage, Janson asked him if he would join him on “Folsom Prison Blues” to close out the first-time host’s portion of the show.

After performing his No. 1 hit “Fix A Drink”, Janson shared with the audience that when he first came to town, he performed at Tootsie’s across the alley, where the first song he sang was Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” He then invited Mark Miller back to the stage to perform an entertaining and memorable version of the classic for the sold-out crowd.
Janson returns for Opry at the Ryman on December 22.
