William Michael Morgan Talks Truth In “Talking To A Girl”

Rising country music star William Michael Morgan knows heartbreak and he knows happiness – but he also knows the in between, and that’s where he is in “Talking To A Girl” (listen HERE). Morgan penned the personal song, which describes the slow but promising steps toward a new relationship, with Bobby Pinson and Shane Minor. The Boot premiered the “hopeful ballad” this morning alongside its official music video, the third installment in a series of linked visuals (watch HERE).
“I feel like we all have those moments in life where it just doesn’t go the way you thought,” Morgan said. “This song is about realizing that, even if you’re still going through it for a little while longer, heartache won’t last forever.”
“Talking To A Girl” follows his latest release, “Brokenhearted” (listen HERE). Written by Rhett Akins, J.T. Harding, and Marv Green, MusicRow described the mid-tempo tune as “a real cool honky tonker” and suggested that listeners should “two-step across the dancefloor as he sings about the lack of heartache in today’s party-hearty country sound.” The track’s video, directed by Colin Duffy, features the 25-year-old keeping country music honest as he sings about both good times and bad (watch HERE).
Morgan began sharing his new music this fall with “Tonight Girl” (listen HERE). The tune is already leaving its mark with fans, earning spots on top playlists including Spotify’s New Boots and Next From Nashville, Apple Music’s Breaking Country and Best of the Week and Pandora’s New Country Now. Taste of Country declared him in “a league of his own” with “velvety-smooth vocals” that “stay with the listener.” Check out the track’s accompanying video HERE.
The new additions to Morgan’s collection of work add on to his already successful young career. In just three years, he has earned a No. 1 single with his Gold-certified debut, “I Met A Girl.” Rolling Stonedescribed the tune as a “laid-back ode to the joy of romantic discovery.” It was named one of NPR Music’s Top 100 Songs of 2016 and paved the way for his album Vinyl to debut Top 5 on the BillboardCountry albums chart, earning widespread critical acclaim in the process. Morgan has a voice that “resonates with the flawless timbre of someone who has been singing country music for decades beyond his years” (Pandora).
One of the 2017 CRS New Faces of Country Music, Morgan has already accumulated more than 76 million on-demand streams. He recently wrapped a summer of fair and festival performances across the nation, and he will continue touring with select dates through the end of the year.
