Devin Dawson / On Tour

Devin Dawson Announces Headlining Tour

Atlantic Records / Warner Music Nashville’s Devin Dawson has been touring nonstop this year with country music superstars like Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and label-mate Brett Eldredge. After rejoining Eldredge for the fall leg of his “The Long Way” tour this fall, Dawson will set out on his first headlining run November 1 in Columbia, South Carolina. The “Stray Off Course” tour will feature yet-to-be-announced special guests and continue through the middle of December (full dates below). Nashville fans can also see him perform this Wednesday, August 29 at WMN’s Pickin’ on the Patio.

Dawson recently released the official music video for “Asking For A Friend”, the second single from his critically acclaimed debut Dark Horse. The “complex story song” (People) is Dawson’s current single and describes a character longing to repair a damaged relationship but lacking the courage to ask for forgiveness. Using a heavily stylized, noir set and Multiplicity-esque camera trickery, the video is set in a surreal “bar” where each representation of a “friend” is played by Dawson himself.

Inspired by the track’s lyrics, Dawson has also begun his brand new video series “Asking For A Friend – Answered” (WATCH EPISODES 1 & 2 HERE). Fans can anonymously submit questions that “their friends have” HERE for Dawson to answer in an upcoming episode, where he explains “nothing is off limits.”

Dawson chatted with Billboard about the writing process for the track (READ HERE) that he co-wrote with Connie Harrington (“I Drive Your Truck,” “I Got the Boy”) and Brett Beavers (“What Was I Thinkin’,” “Red Solo Cup”). It was included as one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week” upon release, who described it as “a clever song about rekindling an old flame with a three-act narrative told mostly in questions” (READ HERE). Taste of Country named it one of the “Top 10 Country Songs of 2018 So Far” praising the way he sings the “vulnerable ballad with great hope and real sincerity” and going on to name his acoustic version “one of the best [Taste of Country RISER] performances of the year” (READ HERE).
