  9. Craziness thing a fan has ever gifted you? A plaque featuring an alligator head inscribed with “Ode to one-armed Joe.” The same fan would bring me bags of gifts. She was always well-intentioned, but once there were cockroaches hitchhiking in the bag. I had to have the bus fumigated.
  10. Who was your favorite teacher and why?  I had a science teacher named Mr. Schaffer that I really liked. He was a bit unorthodox with his teaching methods. He kept it entertaining and it was really interesting all the time.

Joe’s CMA Performance Schedule:
Sunday, June 9th at 2:45pm –  Forever Country Stage

With the 2012 release of Jason Aldean’s hit “1994” that name-checked many of Joe Diffie’s twelve Number One hits, the legendary singer found himself squarely back in the hearts and minds of country fans. The multi-platinum-selling artist has never slowed down – writing, touring and recording a myriad of projects including his critically acclaimed 2010 bluegrass album “Homecoming,” and his upcoming ”Country Unplugged” acoustic tour with fellow hit makers Mark Chesnutt and Lorrie Morgan. The video for his most recent single “Girl Ridin’ Shotgun,” which features cameo appearances from such superstars as Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, Lee Brice, Tim McGraw, and Keith Urban has amassed well over 7 million views on Youtube.

With chart-toppers like “Pickup Man,” “Third Rock from the Sun,” and “John Deere Green,” and 13 albums and over 20 Top 10 singles to his credit, Joe has little to prove at this point in his career, yet he still has a fire in his belly to make good country music. A renowned songwriter in his own right, Joe has hits for artists like Tim McGraw, Conway Twitty, and Jo Dee Messina to his credit.

Joe Diffie is a Grammy and ACM award-winner. He is a member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for over 20 years.    Joe’s brand-new single “I Got This” was released on May 18th.  LISTEN HERE.

CMA Fest and CMA Foundation:  Each year, hundreds of Country artists perform at CMA Music Festival for free, and to show its appreciation for their dedication and time, CMA donates half the net proceeds from the event to benefit music education programs on behalf of the artists and celebrities.

The origins of the program began in 2001, when CMA Music Festival, then known as Fan Fair, moved to downtown Nashville for the first time. From 2001-2005, participating artists could select individual charities for donations and CMA contributed more than $800,000 to hundreds of worthy causes.

In 2006, the CMA Artist Relations Committee, led by Kix Brooks formerly of Brooks & Dunn, decided to channel those financial resources into a single cause – music education – through CMA’s “Keep the Music Playing” campaign to have a more meaningful impact in an area of importance to the entire music community. The CMA Foundation was launched in 2011 and currently gives to over 40 music education initiatives across the country.
