Rascal Flatts Continues Smashville Tradition

The 2018 NHL playoffs are officially underway, and in true Smashville fashion Rascal Flatts showed up to share their rendition of the National Anthem before the Nashville Predators pulled off a 5-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.

Not only did Rascal Flatts deliver a harmonious vocal performance, but the trio continued what’s become one of Smashville’s most anticipated traditions. It was last year when Carrie Underwood, wife of former captain Mike Fisher, married the two franchises — country music and the Preds — with the singing of the National Anthem before Nashville’s first 2017 postseason home game. Her spirit proved infectious as other big-name artists followed in her path, including Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride, Little Big Town, Vince Gill, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban and Kelly Clarkson. Now, fans can’t help but guess who will be next.

While the answer is still unknown, one thing’s for sure: the country community will be well-represented at the Preds’ 2018 quest for the Stanley Cup.

Already Underwood has promised to help Smashville cheer on her hometown team and, of course, her husband.

“I hope you’re all ready for more silly posts of me at Preds’ playoff games,” Underwood said in a letter to fans following a fall that required 40-5- stitches in her face. “One more run for the Cup! Go Preds!”

Following the release of her current single, “Cry Pretty,” Underwood is finally stepping back into the spotlight, and her commitment to attend the Preds’ upcoming games only confirms that — she’ll also be performing her single at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday night.

It seems that country’s influence will continue to seep even deeper, because country duo LOCASH appeared on the Ford Band Stage during intermission, offering fans in attendance a surprise concert. More pop-up performances like this one would only help to ensure an unforgettable ride for all of Smashville and its loyal fans.

One question still remains, though, and that is, who will take next game’s National Anthem? While you sit and ponder which artist(s) will join in on this ever-growing tradition, check out which country artists have already proven their support to Smashville below.
