JoLivi has been on the music scene as a pop artist recording two EPs and three singles. Two of her songs charted well and during that time she visited and performed at over 50 radio stations across the country, set the stage at numerous live and industry events, and in the process garnered a significant amount of press, and a collection of over a million views on YouTube.

JoLivi, however, is new to the arena of country music, her twang comes with a bluesy soul and her buttery trills unwittingly rope you in.

Over the last year I found myself adding a favorite country cover to the song list of our performances. During rehearsals my producer Mark and I always talked about how we needed to someday write country music together.”

Their conversation soon became hooks and verses and they would discover that country for them wasn’t just another genre but a creative longing fulfilled.

CMTT:  You have seen some success in the pop music world, what made you want to make the switch to country music?
Jolivi:  I’ve always had a love for country music. I grew up with a mother who had a huge collection of CDs ranging in all different genres. Country will lend itself (for me) to write about all types of experiences. When I was doing pop I wrote a lot about heartbreak but I want to write about the fun stuff I get to do, the places I get to travel to, and the people and relationships I have.

CMTT:  For someone who hasn’t heard your music yet, how would you describe your sound?
Jolivi:  I’d say a little Maren Morris mixed with a tad of Susan Tedeschi 🙂

CMTT:  Who has been your biggest musical influence?
Jolivi:  That’s easy, my grandpa. He was a Hawaiian singer/musician and ever since I could remember I wanted to be just like him.

CMTT:  Tells us a little bit about your new song “Crooked Crown.”

Jolivi:  It’s about getting back up when anything brings you down. Just once you get up and dust yourself off you just make sure that crown on top of your head isn’t crooked!!! You don’t have to be rich to own a crown!
