Chat with Willie Nelson on Twitter!!!

Willie Nelson

eMusic, www.eMusic.com, is bringing fans closer to their favorite artists through live and online events, including its popular, live eMusic Twitter Q&A Series.

The next eMusic Twitter Q&A will be taking place with Willie Nelson (@WillieNelson) on Friday May, 18th at 12pm EST.

Fans can submit questions leading up to the event with the hashtag #AskWillie and follow @eMusic on Friday to see Willie Nelson’s answer.

Why ask Willie Nelson a question? eMusic thinks that Willie Nelson is one of the few true badasses left that you should truly care about. It’s basically Willie, Lemmy, Little Richard and Iggy when he keeps his shirt on. That’s the complete list and while we’re open to suggestions, it will be pretty difficult to convince us that anybody else alive has attained the level of badass that Willie is at.

Like all eMusic Twitter Q&A’s, all questions will be 100% fan-sourced – so everyone gets a chance to participate.
The eMusic Twitter Q&A series launched last summer. Since the program’s start, eMusic has chatted with a variety of artists, including My Morning Jacket, Frankie Rose and more recently Spiritualized. The series will continue throughout 2012.  Check the eMusic Facebook Events page (https://www.facebook.com/events/359939360730211/) and the eMusic 17Dots blog (www.17dots.com) for new artist Q&A announcements.

Lionel Richie’s “Tuskegee” Certified Platinum

Lionel Richie-Tuskegee

Lionel Richie’s Tuskegee has been certified platinum for reaching sales of 1 million, a feat accomplished in an impressive five weeks.

“This album continues to amaze me and I am so grateful for all that it has accomplished,” Richie says. “Just when I think it couldn’t get any bigger, Tuskegee reaches a new level of success. When I came up with the idea for Tuskegee, I didn’t want to be confined by boundaries of age, genre or demographics. I am thrilled with how well this album has been received by people from all walks of life. It is truly living up to the vision we had when we created it.”

The country duets album, which held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 for two consecutive weeks, sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart for the fourth week since its March 26 release.

Tuskegee is the best-selling country album of 2012 and the first country album in more than a year to spend two consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200. It is the exciting new chapter in a storied career that includes album sales of more than 100 million, 22 Top 10 hits, five Grammys, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a host of other awards.

While this is certainly not the first time Richie has topped the Billboard 200, this is his first No. 1 album on the country albums chart. He joins Ray Charles as the only artists in history to have No. 1 albums on both the Billboard Country Albums and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.

This is the album’s fifth consecutive week in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top 200. The album was released on March 26 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the country albums chart. It was his best sales week since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.

The album features duets of 13 of his timeless hits with Jason Aldean, Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, Billy Currington, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Jennifer Nettles, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Rogers, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton and Shania Twain.

Eric Church Boozin’, Cruisin’ and Doesn’t Care – Guest Post

Eric Church

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know by now that there’s a current beef between Eric Church and Blake & Miranda. In the latest Rolling Stone magazine, Eric has a two page interview titled “Boozin’ and Crusin’ With Country’s Rowdiest Star”. When reality TV and The Voice was mentioned, he was quoted saying….

“It’s became American Idol gone mad. Honestly, if Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green f—ing turn around in a red chair, you get a deal? That’s crazy. I don’t know what would make an artist do that. You’re not an artist.”

“If I was concerned about my legacy, there’s no f—ing way I would ever sit there [and be a reality-show judge]. Once your career becomes something other than the music, then that’s what it is. I’ll never make that mistake. I don’t care if I f—ing starve.”

Now I’ve met Eric, and he was really quiet, but decent to us. So I decided to go out and buy the new Rolling Stone Magazine issue just to see how bad this interview was and if it was blown out of proportion or not.

In the beginning of the article it says that “Eric Church loves Bruce, Jack Daniel’s, and rocking arenas to the ground”…(and apparently doesn’t care what anyone thinks!) Eric Church starts off by talking about hunting rattlesnakes with a loaded gun and then leads into saying how he doesn’t want anything to f—–ing change. His producer Jay Joyce was talking about quitting smoking and Eric said “Don’t quit f—-ing smoking. Nothing can change”. Talk about being selfish and superstitious. The article went on to talk about how at one point, word spread that Eric Church and his band was trouble and how he couldn’t book anything major for FOUR years after he was pulled off the Rascal Flatts tour.

During this time, Church said he remembers sending out his guitarist, Driver Williams, to play Pantera instruments before their sets to get rid of the older fans.

“It didn’t interest me to play for people who were 80 years old”….”They’ll be dead soon anyway. By the time you come back on tour and play again, they’ll be gone.”

Wow….now in my opinion that is almost more rude than what he said about The Voice and Blake Shelton. I know for a fact that some artists can’t stand others or have very heavy opinions. That doesn’t mean you should just share all of your most intense thoughts and risk hurting others when you are being interviewed! Eric, are you trying to be the Kanye West of country music? I hope not! Of course late last night, Eric said that what he said in this interview wasn’t meant to hurt anyone…However, I wonder how someone like Willie Nelson feels about that old person comment. As Miranda pointed out, he’s about to turn 80 next year! Better see Eric before you get the boot Willie!!!
