42nd CMA Awards Updates

Keep refreshing because we will keep updating!

  • I wasn’t very impressed with the opening of the show.  Loved Keith Urban he sounded great.  Brad Paisley sounded a bit off.
  • Love Brad and Carrie Underwood’s opening.  She looks beautiful and they were funny without being abrasive.
  • Congrats to George Strait on the first award of the evening.  Single of the Year
  • Kellie Pickler in that black leather dress.   I don’t know why she can’t cover herself up sometimes.  Good news is she sounds great!  Love this song “Best Days of Your Life”
  • WOW!  Alan Jackson has had 70 nominations!  That’s crazy!  He’s singing “Good Time”.   Sounds good as always.  He always sounds like his CD’s.   The line dancers in the audience are a bit cheesy but I get it.
  • Yeah!  Jennifer Nettles got Song of the Year as we predicted.  This is an awesome song and she looks great!  Too bad it wasn’t someone better presenting her with the award.  It was weirdo daddy Billy Ray Cyrus and her teenage daughter Miley Cyrus…..who’s dating a 20 year old underwear model.
  • Miranda Lambert sounds great singing More Like Her. I love it when she does ballods.  She is so talented and doesn’t get as much recognition as she sounds.   She got a little pitchy at the end but still love her!
  • WOO HOO Lady Antebellum!  Charles Kelley looks tired but is still very HOT!   “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” great song!  They sounds perfect.
  • Martina McBride – so beautiful, so talented and one of the best vocalists in country music.  She is SO powerful.  I am not a big fan of her fashion sense though.    Sounds great singing “Ride”.  Classic.
  • Rodney Atkins ….. not seeing Bruce Springsteen yet…..that was supposed to be the BIG surprise.  WOW!  NO Bruce Springsteen.  I am shocked.  That is what everyone said was the big surprise.
  • John Rich looks great presenting the Vocal/Duo Group of the Year.  My heart is pounding.  Come on Rascal Flatts…..come on!   WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  My night is made….. way to go guys.  You deserve this awards and so much more.  Congratulations!
  • Taylor Swift singing “Love Story”.    Not a fan of what she is wearing.  She actually sounds alright tonight.    She doesn’t always sound the greatest live.  She is more of a performer than a vocalist usually.  She has been so busy with the release of her new CD yesterday she should look more tired.  Good thing she is young.    Ok, I love the white dress…..she doesn’t sound as good as she did when she first started and I am so grossed out by Justin Gaston being on the stage right now!  GROSS!
  • Kid Rock singing “Summertime”.  He always looks like he left the house without a shower.  I know a lot of people don’t like remakes but I like this songs.  It gets the crowd going every time I hear it out.  What is rapper Lil Wayne doing on the guitar?  That’s weird.  WOW!  The audience just gave Kid Rock a standing ovation.  I’m shocked.  I know people say that Kid Rock isn’t country but I heard Kenny Chesney say that Kid Rock knows more about the history of country music than most in the industry right now.
  • I think Carrie is doing a great job tonight.  I wasn’t sure if I would like her as host.
  • George Strait is just great classic country.  Not fun to watch – he always sounds great but not much of an Entertainer.  He just stands behind his guitar the whole time.  Not a fan of this song – “River of Love”
  • I really like Jason Aldean.  I am going to see him and Lady A in concert tomorrow night.  Wishing him luck tonight.  The more I hear this song the more I like it  “She’s Country”
  • Taylor Swift just presented Best New Artist Award to Lady Antebellum!   WOOOOO HOOOOO.  They deserve this award.  They are amazing!  Great job!
  • Brooks & Dunn with Reba McEntire.  Let’s hope they sound better than they did last time they performed together.  “Cowgirls Don’t Cry”.    While we are talking about Brooks & Dunn….I listened to the new Randy Houser CD the other day…he sounds a lot like Ronnie Dunn.
  • Julianne Hough, Jake Owen and Jimmy Wayne just presented Vocal Duo of the year to…..Sugarland!   Just as we said!
  • Darius Rucker – love that he crossed over.  Let’s see if he can hang live.  “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It”.  He’s not a very attractive guys but damn, he sounds good tonight.   Small standing ovation for Darius.
  • Brad Paisley – “Waitin on a Woman”.  He always sounds the same to me.  I don’t have much to say about his performance either way.
  • LeAnn Womack and Josh Turner presented Album of the Year Award to…..George Strait     I love that Kenny Chesney is not taking home all of the awards tonight!
  • Keith Urban singing “Sweet Thing”.  Lookin hot and sexy in that black t-shirt.  What a performer!   Standing ovation!
  • Carrie Underwood looking stunning in a black dress. She is singing “Just a Dream”.  I don’t care if you don’t like her “as a person” but the girl can sing.    Carrie does have emotions!!!!  She cried a bit at the end.
  • Vince Gill just presented Carrie Underwood with Female Vocalist of the Year.  Taylor looked a bit disappointed.  As much as I love Taylor it’s not her time yet.  She will win it soon!  Carrie deserves this award she does have a beautiful voice.  Just wish she wasn’t such a diva.
  • Sugarland performing “It’s Love”.  I don’t like this song.  Don’t like her dress and I hate the way Jennifer dances.  Ok, but I actually do like Sugarland.  Just not tonight I guess.  Maybe I am a little bitter that they got Entertainer of the Year nod instead of Rascal Flatts.
  • James Otto – prove yourself tonight!  This is big for you.  He is singing “Just Got Started Lovin You”.  Did he mess up the beginning?

Ok have to break up the text a little bit.  What a better way than to share a picture of the greatest Group of the Year!!!!!

  • Kenny Chesney performing with The Wailers.  Does he realize that he is at the Country Music Awards.  This isn’t reggae?  SO tired of Kenny and the beach music.  I think he should go take a long siesta….  Oh, he’s signing “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven”.
  • “Your Gonna Miss This” I love this song!  I like Trace Adkins but I’m afraid he only got so popular this year because of “The Apprentice”.  Whatever it takes I guess.
  • Reese Witherspoon is so cute.  Don’t like her dress though.  She is presenting Male Vocalist of the Year.  And the award goes to…..Brad Paisley.  I am a little shocked about this.  Did not predict this one.  Awwww, how cute he kissed Kim’s belly before taking the award.  That was cute.
  • The Eagles performing.    Once again, not sure why they are here.  They are not country.   Honestly, I don’t know the name of this song.  I only listen to country music.
  • I guess there are no more surprises.  There really were not any surprises tonight at all.  I thought for sure that Shania Twain would perform before she presented.
  • So here it is…..Entertainer of the Year goes to…….Kenny Chesney.  BOO HISSSSS.  Did he just hit on Shania Twain?

Well that’s it.  Hope you enjoyed the show and thanks for logging on.  I am going to bed.  I will report more for you tomorrow.  Have a great night!

Kenny Chesney, Kid Rock, The Wailers pack Tootsies Last Night

From what I am hearing from everyone this was one of the most amazing shows of this year!  The secret got out early yesterday that Kenny Chesney was going to be performing at Tootsies in Nashville last night.  Lines started forming outside before 5pm.

By the time they hit the stage at 10:30 or so it was packed!  Guess who else showed up?  Kid Rock also joined the party and sang a few songs.

Most of what they sang were island songs….but as we all know Kenny loves the Islands.

If you were there last night email me as soon as you get up to let us know what you thought.  countrymusictattletale@yahoo.com
