Tanya Tucker to help choose “America’s Next Drag Superstar!”

Tanya Tucker will be a guest judge on the February 15th episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race (airing at 9/8c on Logo and the following Tuesday at 9/8c on Vh1).  Tucker will sit alongside RuPaul, fashion journalist Merle Ginsberg, designer Santino Rice and actress Kathy Najimy for a special show that finds the contestants discovering their “country” characters….In other words, Tanya will be watching a group of drag queens (dudes dressed as chicks for all the non-hip) compete in various competitions to be named “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”

Okie dokie is all I have to say about that…I’m a big fan of Tanya Tucker…but I’m not sure I’d want to be qualified to judge a drag competition.

If You Like Your Country With Some Swing, Liz Talley Will Keep You More Than Satisfied

What fun! Listening to Liz Talley, a traditional country music singer from Houston, you can almost taste the beer and smell the smoke of a Texas dance hall. I dare you to resist tapping your toes to “Bump Bounce Boogie” – Heck, I dare you not to dance around the room, it’s such a spirited track full of fiddles, twang and attitude. An Asleep at the Wheel remake, she puts her own stamp on the swinging track.

“Johnny Getting Out of Jail Barbeque” is also a hoot (although a bit more subdued than you’d expect from the title). Even the ballad “My Heart Ain’t Helping” makes you want to do a slow two-step.

This is feel-good, old time “country and western” music that reminds of where country music came from while still fitting in at a local bar (or should I say honky tonk?) on a Saturday night. Her voice reminds me of tiny bit of Patsy Cline mixed with a little Marcia Ball and just a touch of Tanya Tucker. Not too polished, not too harsh and as authentic as a long neck Bud with the label peeled off.

Check her out at www.liztalleymusic.com.

If you’re in New Mexico, Liz will be performing at the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium in Ruidoso Downs in October. Other acts include Mel Tillis and Larry Gatlin. Liz will fit right in!

Jennette Mccurdy, Julianne Hough & Tanya Tucker

I guess there is other country related things going on today other than Rascal Flatts!  Who woulda thunk it!

Tanya Tucker is hitting the media outlets in New York City to promote her new CD out in stores now! Upcoming appearances include NBC’s Better TV, Fox News Channel’s Huckabee, Fox Business Channel, Fox Entertainment, SiriusXM Radio, NYC Profiles (CUNY TV), Game Show Network, and Associated Press Television. Keep an eye out for dates and times!

Wanna know the secrets to Julianne Hough’s workouts? I can tell you it is probably painful for us non-dancing folks. I can barely walk in high heels. I can’t imagine trying to dance in them!  Check out what she showed ENews!  (a special thanks to Lori for sending us the video)

Thanks to Stephanie for emailing us the exciting info about Jennette:

Jennette Mccurdy who plays Sam on the Nickeloden show iCarly was just signed earlier this week to Capitol Records! She just turned 17 and actually has a good voice. She already has 2 singles on itunes, which I am totally in love with “So Close”. Her other song “Homeless Heart” was actually written for a friend of hers she lost to cancer and when you buy the track the money or a portion of it goes to a charity that is in his name! I like how she is a country fan, and not fake at all. She is actually learning guitar and has been writing. A LOT more than what we’ve seen others *cough miley cough* try to pull off!

At least she will fit in right at home with the country music Twitter world…she first announced her record deal on her Twitter page! I have not personally listened to her music yet…..on my to do list.

Are You Ready For New Music This Summer????

There are lots of new albums and singles coming out this summer. Get your iPods ready….. lots and lots to look forward to:

TODAY!!!!!!!
Brad Paisley — American Saturday Night
Cledus T. Judd — Polyrically Uncorrect
Tanya Tucker — My Turn

Brad says that of all the songs on his new CD, “American Saturday Night,” he’s proudest of his new single, “Welcome to the Future” because he “got to say” what he wanted to say. It starts off with the changes he’s lived through in technology, starting with his beloved Pac Man. It moves to changes in communication and world politics from World War II to now. And, ends with the election of a black man as president. Brad says “this country has turned on a dime in a way” he says couldn’t have been foreseen a year ago. Paisley wonders if having a baby earlier this year added to the way he looks at life now. But, he says these are “bold new times that we’re living in” which are “hard to ignore.”

In other music news Country Music Tattle Tale wants to say congratulations to one of our favorite country music men. Dierks Bentley is celebrating having another No. 1 single! “Sideways” will take over the top spot on Billboard’s country singles chart later this week.” Since “Sideways” is a party-song, Dierks says he “can’t wait for the number-one party for this one.” He says he “always said that this song would sound best blasting through boat speakers.”
