“Love Don’t Run” from Steve Holy!

Steve Holy hails from Dallas Texas and has just dropped his third album “Love Don’t Run” of which the smash hit of the same name is now climbing the charts quickly. He was discovered by LeAnn Rimes’ father, Wilbur Rimes and was signed by Curb Records in 1999.

Steve’s first big hit was “Good Morning Beautiful” in 2001 which hit number one for him and was from the soundtrack of the movie “Angel Eyes”. In 2005 his second number one hit, co-written by the dynamic Jeffrey Steele, Shane Minor and Bart Allman was “I’ve Got A Brand New Girlfriend”. These two hits of his were two of my favorite songs of the time. Now he has released an entire CD of instant favorites of mine – this CD is a dynamic collection of Steve’s unique singing style – being able to make one swoon with a love ballad or get up and get going with a jazzy “get it” tune.

The feature song “Love Don’t Run” is about people just trying to keep love together. I have déjà vu on this one as I thought I’d reviewed the single before the CD at some point because I know this song but must not have because I could not find anything on it! Maybe it’s just that kind of a song – one that is familiar and stays right with you forever. It’s about people hurting but staying together and working at love because love just don’t run!

One of my other greats on this CD is “If It Gets You Where You Want To Go”. This song fits anyone, anywhere, anytime! It’s about doing whatever you need in life to get on with life and get you to your destination. It could be flying down a dirt road in a fast car, looking at a picture of a great memory, a jet plane flying through the blue skies and one I enjoy – a weekend walk on the wild side. It’s really about the power of believing and enjoying what you are doing as you work through life attaining your goals. I personally would love to see this as his next single release.

“Good Morning Beautiful” is perhaps one of the most beautiful love ballads in the world from one man to one woman. It’s tender and loving and just exudes sexiness, love and adoration from one person to another. The song features Steve with quieter instrumentals so you can focus on him alone and feel the adoration in the song. It is added as a special bonus track to the CD.

One more of my “bests” on this album is a remake of a song that was so beautiful and yet so controversial in its time and Steve sings it with a yearning in his voice that makes this remake actually work and work well. “Help Me Make It ThroughThe Night” was originally released by the late Sammi Smith in 1971 and was penned by Kris Kristofferson. The song was originally intended for a male vocalist and was also recorded by Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis in 1971, but Steve’s version of this suggestion of a one-night stand is exemplary. I can’t imagine any woman turning down that voice! He has this song, and me, in the palm of his hand.

The album rounds out with “Hauled Off and Kissed Me”, “Until the Rain Stops”, “Heart of a Hero”, “Every Day Should End Like This”, “Wonders”, “Let the Sun Shine In” and “Like I’m Famous”. This is a CD you will not be sorry you have and should catapult Steve Holy back into the number ones with a couple of the album cuts.

You can find more of Steve at www.steveholy.com and download the new “Love Don’t Run” as well. He’s also on all the popular medias – Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Go now – listen to him on the website and run to get your copy of this CD!
