Rockin’ It With Blackberry Smoke

The first time I heard the name Blackberry Smoke I thought “Wow – what a cool name for a band!” And the first time I logged on to hear them I thought “WOW! What a rocking band!”

They are indeed a rocking band with a huge cache of talent going on there! They are well traveled – Spain, Mexico, Germany – and all over the USA. Sitting at #3 on the CMT countdown as of this week with a “Good One Coming On”, they are moving and shaking the good ole Southern Rock world.

Signed by Bama Jam Records they’ve already released their sophomore CD under the new label with legendary producer Dan Huff (Keith Urban and Rascall Flatts) and engineer Justin Niebank. They perform at Talledega Racetrack, Alabama’s new Country Crossing and many other southern venues. The Atlanta-based band is growing into the premiere Southern Rock band of America and has performed with ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Shooter Jennings, the LoCash Cowboys and Cross Canadian Ragweed.

Their new single “Good One Coming On” is just a great old country boy song about beer, Patron, Igloo coolers, ragtop Mustangs (I own one!!), parking by the lake, skinny-dipping in the moonlight and just having a grand old country time. These boys have a hard country rock look but don’t let that fool you into thinking there is no talent there – because there is rich talent in each and every band member and they know exactly what they are doing and how to make you enjoy their music.

To see more about this amazing band go to www.blackberrysmoke.com and check out their new songs – they will have you swaying to the music in a heartbeat!

Dierks Bentley’s Miles and Music for Kids

Dierks Bentley is gearing-up to take his Miles and Music for Kids benefit on the road.  The official kick-off is in Nashville on October 11th.  All of us from CMTT got our tickets today…since we are all offical Dierks Bentley Congress members…

Anyhow, this years event is sponsored by Nationwide Insurance and will benefit the Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.  This even always has an impressive line-up.  Previous years featured appearances by Halfway to Hazard, Tim McGraw, John Rich, Jason Aldean, Big Kenny, Keith Anderson, Shooter Jennings, Charles Kelley, and of course, Dierks.  So far this year, Darius Rucker and Eric Church have joined the roster.

“This has always been a pretty special deal, and then last year my daughter was born at Vanderbilt the same day as our event and that really put things in perspective for me,” says Bentley. “It’s cool that guys like Darius and Eric are willing to come out and help us raise some money, so that our community can continue to benefit from the hospital’s services.”

If you’d like to attend this years event, and I recommend that you do…You can purchase your tickets at www.ticketmaster.com for as little as $20 starting this Friday, August 15th.
