Waylon Jennings Tribute Album Volume II Includes Dierks Bentley, Justin Moore, Hank Williams Jr. and More!

Waylon

Today, Average Joes Entertainment, in conjunction with Scatter Records, announced the official release date for WAYLON – The Music Inside: A Collaboration Dedicated to Waylon Jennings, Volume II. The album will be available for pre-sale purchase digitally on January 24, 2012, with availability at retail starting on February 7, 2012.

The eleven-track album, and the second of a three volume series dedicated to the late Waylon Jennings, features country music artists performing the hit songs that made Jennings a household name. WAYLON – The Music Inside, Volume II boasts a solid lineup of artists each of who were heavily influenced by Jennings’ legacy. The lineup for WAYLON – The Music Inside, Volume II includes Dierks Bentley, Justin Moore, Hank Williams Jr., Jessi Colter, Montgomery Gentry, Jewel, Jack Ingram, Colt Ford, Josh Thompson, Pat Green and Wyatt McCubbin.

“I feel like this project could very likely break another sound barrier,” says Jessi Colter. “Waylon was so original. For his songs to be sang by other people and to take me somewhere else is not an easy task.”

Recording for the three volume series started over three-and-a-half years ago, and has been a labor of love for Jennings’ widow Jessi Colter; son Shooter Jennings; and guitarist Reggie Young. They, along with producer Witt Stewart, have assembled a star-studded roster of artists to pay tribute to Jennings and highlight his undeniable musical and cultural influence.

Colter adds, “I’ve been pleasantly surprised of the fact that the people involved chose to make the songs their own. They add something to it and to me that’s what makes it interesting. They made it their own because they could never walk in Waylon’s tracks. They’d be stepping in holes.”

Waylon Jennings is recognized as one of the key players of country music’s ‘outlaw’ movement. Jennings was in good company with fellow artists of his time including Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson. They were the musical talents who defined a new genre of music with rebellious attitudes, which, in turn, translated over into their music. The ‘outlaw’ rebellion denied Nashville’s straight-laced model and brought the era of whiskey-drinkin,’ bar brawlin,’ woman lovin,’ country music to the forefront.  WAYLON – The Music Inside, Volume I, was released last year and is available for purchase now.

“Breaking the Myth: Waylon Jennings” with Dierks, Jamey and More!

Breaking the Myth: Waylon Jennings, premiering Saturday February 26, 9:00 p.m./Eastern on GAC, chronicles the making of The Music Inside, the recently released tribute album dedicated to Waylon Jennings. The album and TV special celebrates Waylon’s enduring musical and cultural legacy and chronicles his role in founding country music’s outlaw movement.

Album producer Witt Stewart first saw Jennings working as a DJ at a Lubbock, TX, radio station while on a school field trip. Decades later he’d gain the support of Jennings’ widow and son, Jessi Colter and Shooter Jennings, to create what would be a 3-CD series in tribute to the original outlaw.

Viewers of Breaking the Myth: Waylon Jennings get special studio access to see artists including Kris Kristofferson, Hank Williams, Jr., Dierks Bentley, Alabama, John Hiatt, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Pat Green, Patti Griffin and Sunny Sweeney working on their tracks for the project. These same stars – several of whom knew him well – talk about Waylon the man and the influence he had on them musically while acknowledging the doors he broke down for artists who would come after him. And Waylon the husband and father are lovingly remembered by Jessi and Shooter who share personal memories throughout the special.

No Justice – “2nd Avenue” Available TODAY!

“2nd Avenue” is somewhere you’ll want to be with the album of one of Texas’ hottest bands this year! No Justice has shared the stage with Dierks Bentley and Pat Green and have seven top 10 hits, two #1 singles in Texas and torn up the radio waves in both Texas and Oklahoma.

To date they are regionally well known but with over 200 tour dates are quickly becoming known around the country. The band has a solid sound as demonstrated on this album.

The lead single, “Love Song” is a good balance of lyrics and instrumentals. There are some awesome riffs and strong drumming that accompanies the lyrics of a love lost, although upbeat in rhythm. This is a steady tempo, toe tapping love-lost-song where the singer wants another chance and a little romance with a love song.

“2nd Avenue” is a fast tempo song with lots of drums and soft verses breaking out into a strong rock-ballad tempo with a repetitive hook of “take me back to 2nd Avenue……take me to you”. He keeps searching for answers and looking for her through the streets everywhere but can’t find a trace, so he wants to go back to 2nd Avenue, back in time to her.

“Going Nowhere” is a rock-rhythm song about a young gal with her feet on the dash as they drive along on a great summer night. This is one of those songs you’ll relate to your youth with – driving nowhere, running along in the breeze and just “going nowhere”. Loved those summer nights!

You can hear them for yourself at www.nojustice.com and on MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/nojusticeband. You can purchase the CD at Amazon and goHastings.com.
