Vince Gills Talks Food with Parade

Parade Magazine recently caught up with Vince Gill…sure he just released his album Guitar Slinger, but this interview really concentrates on food…well, at least part of it.

What’s your Sunday routine like?
I absolutely love breakfast and go to the same place, Noshville, every day. It gets busy on the weekends, so I wind up sitting at the counter. Amy’s not as big a breakfast eater as I am, so sometimes Corinna [the couple’s 10-year-old daughter] goes with me. I know all the servers, and it’s right across the street from the YMCA, where I work out with my trainer a few days a week. Then I go and eat and hope I broke even.

What made you startwatching your weight?
I came to the realization that you don’t see a lot of really old heavy people. So my goal is to be a skinny old man. I’m down about 25 pounds this year.

Do you have a favorite diet breaker?
I love bad food, and pizza is about as good as it gets. It has to have meat on it; I think pizza with vegetables is kind of an oxymoron.

You can read the rest here, and learn how Vince and Amy keep their love going strong and what really ticks Vince off.

Lauren Alaina Tells ‘Parade’- “I Can’t Believe It’s Happening to Me”

Parade magazine recently caught up with American Idol alumni Lauren Alaina about her success and new album, Wildflower.

The whole American Idol experience was surreal, but to actually have my career in line now and for people to be buying my own CD, it’s mind-blowing. I can’t believe it’s happening to me.”

“After the show ended, I got to go spend a week in Nashville. I met a lot of artists that I grew up listening to and looking up to, and they knew who I was and welcomed me into the country music family. Just being accepted and meeting people like Martina McBride felt awesome.”

Lauren’s schedule is hectic, and it’s not going to calm down anytime soon. Upcoming tour announcements have yet to be made, but Lauren isn’t shy about saying who she dreams of touring with.

“I think it would be really cool to go out with Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, or Kenny Chesney.”

You can read more of Lauren Alaina’s interview with Parade here.

Darius Rucker Talks Nerves, Being a Cool Dad, and Country Fans with Parade.com

Darius Rucker is featured on Parade.com to discuss music, life, and singing the national anthem at last nights Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Darius isn’t new to the music biz, but even though he’s used to standing in front of thousands of people singing, he still gets nervous…especially singing the National Anthem.

“I’m pretty excited, but I’ve seen some national anthem disasters. The way that can happen is if you start in way too high of a key. I’ve sung the national anthem several times. I’ve done it at the World Series, but I still get very nervous. I sing my note to myself about a hundred times before I go out there.”

One would assume that a crowd is a crowd…whether it be in front of Hootie and the Blowfish fans or his current country fans…but not all fans are created equal. Not that you have to tell country fans this, but there is something special about them…

“I think the biggest difference between country music fans and rock fans is the loyalty that you have from country fans. The fans will keep listening and that’s a cool place to be.”

You can read more about Darius opening for Brad Paisley on his H20 Frozen Over Tour, how “un-cool” his kids think he is, and how it felt to assist in the hurricane Katrina rebuild here.

Before taking the stage to sing the National Anthem last night, Darius performed at the All State Fan Festival before the Sugar Bowl. Looks like he put on quite a show.

Keith Urban Talks Love, Music, & BBQ with Parade Magazine

Parade magazine sat down with Keith Urban to discuss his love of music, wife Nicole Kidman, and life in general. He also threw in a few tidbits about the new album he’s working on and his Summer Lovin tour.

Keith and Nicole both have VERY busy schedules and as their family has changed in dynamic, so has what they’ve done to maintain the closeness. It’s rumored that Keith and Nicole have gone from spending no more than 2 weeks apart to 3 days apart. It’s a balance that seems to work for both of them.

“I don’t know if there’s any secret to it. Everybody sort of finds their own way to keep their life balanced. I know for me, family is first and I just make sure that I spread my time amongst the things that I love to do as well. Balance is never achieved, it’s just maintained. And so far I’ve been able to maintain it.”

“I’m fortunate to have a wife who understands about career as well. We’re very blessed to have each other, and you recognize the importance of all the facets of our lives. But family is very, very strong in our lives.”

This summer has been easier to achieve that balance since Keith is in the studio working on new music and touring fairs and festivals. The dates are sparatic, bringing him home most of the time.

“We’re in the midst of making a record, so it’s been a year of a few shows and a lot of time in the studio. We haven’t played outside in a long time. It seems as if a majority of our tours are in arenas, so all the festivals this year have been wonderful. It’s just been great to play for a lot of people who probably haven’t seen us play. Every night, faces of strangers out there singing along every word and just the energy in the audience is really amazing. It’s all pretty magical to me.”

Keith’s sponsor for the past couple tours has been KC Masterpiece BBQ bringing some lucky fans at each show a little closer to Keith and to fuller tummie’s with Backstage BBQ Experiences.

“I always seem to be the guy providing the entertainment more than cooking. Grilling out and country music does seem to go hand-in-hand, and there’s certainly no shortage of tailgaters before our concerts. At home, I do a little bit of cooking. My wife and I share the cooking duties a little bit.”

Parade is going to give a lucky fan a fuller belly and a fuller backyard. You can enter to win a Keith Urban Backyard BBQ Experience. Just click here to enter. You can read the full article at Parade.com.
