For most couples, secrets are an automatic “no, no” but Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have taken it to a whole new level to include “no surprises” as well. According to Country Vibe News, Nicole recently broke that promise, but for good reason.
“You know it’s funny, cause my wife and I have a very strict rule that we don’t keep secrets and we’re not into surprises. You know my wife’s like ‘I don’t like surprises, don’t ever have a surprise, always tell me if there’s gonna be a surprise party,’ you know that kind of thing. And so we’ve never surprised each other with anything or kept any secret about anything and this is the rare exception. And when I got home she said, ‘Do you wish I’d have told you?’ And I said no. On one hand, yeah, in the sense that I might have felt a little bit more prepared, but no in the sense of genuine shock. So, (I was) grateful that she didn’t.” On a funny side note, Nicole was told Keith’s induction would take place on April 21st, so she blocked off the night on their calendar by writing “Monica’s birthday” leading him to believe that they had a birthday party to attend. Now Keith laughs and says Nicole really does have a friend named Monica, “but evidently it’s not her birthday.”
Keith did look genuinely shocked and surprised to be asked to join the Opry family. I’m glad Nicole’s tremendous acting abilities were able to keep the invitation on the down low.
