Ashley Gearing Lifts Spirits Through Musicians On Call – Photo of the Day

Ashley Gearing

“What You Think About Us” songstress and Curb recording artist Ashley Gearing stopped by Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt for a visit this week to lift patient spirits through one of the many bedside performance programs offered by Musicians On Call (MOC).  To the delight of the patients and staff, Gearing entertained room by room with her guitar, powerful voice, and bubbly personality.

“I have such a passion for both children and music, and was glad to be given the opportunity to use my music to brighten the day of these kids and their families,” shares Gearing.  ”Musicians On Call is a special organization that brings music to the people who need it most.”

MOC artists, volunteers, patient recipients, their families, and hospital staff can all attest to the healing power of music.  The MOC Nashville division began its first program in the spring of 2007 and since has grown to ten programs – playing for more than 46,000 individuals.

Rascal Flatts Bringing Holiday Cheer to Children’s Hospital in Nashville Today

rascal1_jh

Rascal Flatts will be flipping the switch for charity today. They’ll turn on the lights on the trees that line the street next to Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville. Rascal Flatts also will visit with patients and families at the tree lighting ceremony. The three guys have raised more than $3 million for the hospital over the last few years.

As you know Rascal Flatts will be performing at the Grand Ole Opry tomorrow evening. The Opry is donating tickets to the show to the patients, families and staff at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital.

Jay Demarcus tells CJDC that Rascal Flatts plans to making more Opry appearances in the future.

“Because of our schedule over the last several years, we haven’t been able to do it as often as we would like to have. Now that we’ve got a little more control over our schedule, we wanna start doing the Opry more and more, and hopefully eventually be inducted in there sometime. That would be a wonderful thing for all of us, and we don’t say it enough, but the Opry is near and dear and sacred to all three of our hearts.”
