Dolly Parton Performs the Grand Ole Opry

Last night, Dolly Parton graced the Grand Ole Opry stage.  Wow!!! She looked and sounded FANTASTIC!  It was my first time seeing Dolly live and I’m hoping it won’t be my last!  She sang “9 to 5″ in honor of her broadway play of the same name opening in Nashville this week.  She also performed “Jolene.”  There is NOTHING like hearing Dolly sing her songs live!

Also on the Opry last night were Rebecca Lynn Howard and Whitney Duncan…It was a FABULOUS evening of great music and laughs provided by Little Jimmy Dickens and Mike Snider.

A Memorable Night at the Grand Ole Opry with Rascal Flatts, Chuck Wicks and More

grand-ole-opry-concert1

Last night was amazing.  Every year during the holidays the Grand Ole Opry takes their show back to where it all started, The Ryman Auditorium.  As I have said in the past the Grand Ole Opry is something that every country music fan should experience at least once in their life.  It is where all of country music’s finest have played, it’s where all of the magic happens and last night was no different.

The highlights of the night for me were Chuck Wicks and Rascal Flatts.

Chuck Wicks

Chuck Wicks was introduced by the legendary Little Jimmy Dickens who said that Chuck has a new album that is being released this week!  WHAT?  Since when did Chuck have a new album coming out?  I have been trying to find information about this all morning and am coming up dry so I will do some more research next week and find out.   Anyways……. The first song that Chuck sang was a BRAND NEW song called “She Gets to Me”.  It is  sexy and I about hit the floor when I heard it.  Ladies, I can’t wait for you to hear the song.   Then he closed his Opry set with Stealing Cinderella.

Before Rascal Flatts even had the chance to be introduced by Mike Snider the crowd in the Ryman Auditorium went crazy! They need no introduction. What was so fantastic about last nights show is they did not sing the typical songs that we are used to hearing. They brought out the old fan favorites. Last nights set was a dream come true for a true Rascal Flatts fan.  Just take a listen:

They belted out an old favorite “Church on Cumberland Road” followed by “Here Comes Goodbye”.  With Gary leading into what I had hoped would be “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” but turned into “Santa Clause is Coming to Town”.    The energy and screams from the crowd were like I had never heard at the Opry before.  Then the highlight of the night for me was them closing out their set with an old bonus track from their Feels Like Today album.  It’s an old Mac Davis song called “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me”.

Others who took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry last night were Jimmy C. Newman, Ray Pillow, Jim Ed Brown, Connie Smith, Steve Wariner, Bill Anderson, Stonewall Jackson and Vince Gill.

If you have not had the pleasure to visit the Grand Ole Opry please make plans to.  It is a magical experience that will leave you with a sense of why each and every country music artists loves what they do.

You can see the rest of our pictures from the show on our Flickr page.
