Tracy Lawrence Presents 1st Annual Golf For a Cure

Tracy Lawrence is proud to host the 1st Annual Golf For A Cure Charity Golf Classic on Monday, May 2nd, benefitting Susan G. Komen Greater Nashville. To be held at Five Oaks Golf & Country Club in Lebanon, Tennessee (621 Five Oaks Blvd.), Lawrence will be joined by celebs from the performing stage and the ball field.

As part of his personal initiative to give back, Lawrence, along with his friends in sports and entertainment–Darryl Worley, Brad Arnold (3 Doors Down), Ira Dean (former Trick Pony member), Keith Anderson, Bryan White, Matt Gary, Ty Brown (of “The Bachelorette” fame), Cory Hildreath (One Night Rodeo), Davis Daniel, Elbert West, Lacey Brown and more–will raise money for Komen Greater Nashville spending the day on the greens as comrades in mission and play.

After a challenging 18-hole game, the Golf For A Cure outing will be followed by a celebratory reception. An awards presentation will take place during the reception, along with silent and live auctions and an up-close acoustic concert featuring Lawrence and friends. The entry fee* for the day (including game, lunch and show) is $225 per player. For a mere $50, music enthusiasts can enjoy the show-only. The price of admittance includes FREE beer, vodka and rum beverages (provided by Pinnacle Liquors–while supplies last). Big tag silent auction items include an authentic, autographed Nolan Ryan Rangers’ jersey and photograph and a Fender Squire electric guitar autographed by the members of 3 Doors Down. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to Susan G. Komen Greater Nashville.

Over the course of the past 15 years, Lawrence has hosted his golf classic in Texarkana, Texas benefiting the Tracy Lawrence Foundation. Influencing, enhancing and improving hundreds of thousands of residents’ lives in and around Lawrence’s hometown of Foreman, Arkansas, the Foundation has donated more than 1 million dollars to 35-plus communities and civic groups in and around the area. Lawrence hopes Golf For a Cure will garner the same success and proceeds for the efforts of Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation.

New Music from Matt Gary – “I’m Just Sayin’” – New Music Weekend

Country hopeful Matt Gary’s new 6-song EP, “I’m Just Sayin’,” is a decent collection of songs, but it’s not anything that knocks my socks off. He can sing, but I’m not sure he has that “x-factor” that it takes to be a star in Nashville. As Jason Aldean sings in his hit song “Crazy Town,” Nashville is a town where “everybody plays and everybody sings.” Being able to sing in the right key and strum a guitar isn’t enough to make it in Music City.

Country music is all about honesty, and I’m not sure every song on this EP is believable. It feels like someone just told him to record these songs, no questions asked. It comes across like he’s still trying to find his own unique sound.

My favorite track is “Not Every Man Lives.” It’s about taking risks and doing things you may not normally do. The line “every man dies, but not every man lives” is probably my favorite lyric on the entire EP. It kind of has a “Live Like You Were Dying” feel to it – live everyday as though it’s your last.

The title track, “I’m Just Sayin’,” is a song for a girl who deserves better than what she has. Her man doesn’t treat her right, and Matt is trying to tell her that he would do anything to make her happy and that she shouldn’t settle for this loser.

Overall, it’s not a bad EP. Would I recommend it? I’m not really sure. Everyone deserves a chance to be heard, so check him out if you want to support a new artist that’s trying to make it in the Nashville scene. What have you got to lose? “I’m Just Sayin’” is available on iTunes and Amazon. You can also check him out on the following web sites if you want to hear what Matt Gary has to say.

Annual Celebrity Tour Bus Event And Meet & Greet Benefits Families In Need During Holidays

On a bone chilling December evening in Middle Tennessee, three Music City Media artists braved the arctic-like temperatures to donate their time, energy and good cheer at the 28th Annual Christmas4Kids Tour Bus Show. With Christmas spirit abound, Matt Gary, Jeremy Parsons and Glen Templeton joined in the event held Monday afternoon, December 13, 2010 where 75 tour buses were on display spanning the ice-covered Wal-Mart parking lot in Hendersonville, TN.

Music City Media artists spent the evening making personal introductions, signing autographs, posing for photos and offering guided tours. Families young and old came out to meet the 30 artists who participated in the event. The Tour Bus Show is just one of the yearly events organized by Christmas4Kids wherein the public is able to tour the buses of some of their favorite stars including Lynn Anderson, Bo Bice, Troy Gentry, Colt Ford and Thompson Square.

As part of the festivities, Christmas4Kids organized a bus parade and a Christmas shopping spree at Wal-Mart. Volunteers escorted 400 children from both Sumner County and Wilson County yesterday afternoon; the children were given $175 to purchase items on their Christmas wish list.

Tracy Lawrence 5th Annual “Mission Possible” Turkey Fry a Huge Success

Tracy Lawrence, some famous Music City friends, MTSU students, local media and volunteers from the Nashville Rescue Mission joined together Tuesday, November 23, 2010 to donate their time at the 5th Annual Tracy Lawrence Mission Possible.

Held for the benefit of the Nashville Rescue Mission, the philanthropic group—comprised of over 100 volunteers—fried-up turkeys for the meal kitchen’s Thanksgiving dinner and Wilson County’s homeless.

Some of Music City’s biggest and brightest names gathered to cook and visit with volunteers and fans. Joining the Master of Ceremonies, Tracy Lawrence, in the “group fry” were his friends in music and entertainment: Brad Arnold (Three Doors Down,) GAC’s Suzanne Alexander, Bo Bice, Burns & Poe, Chelsea Field, Matt Gary, LoCash Cowboys, Lathan Moore, Lorrie Morgan, Danielle Peck, Matt Kennon, The Roys, radio personalities Big D & Bubba and the Titans Cheerleaders.

“I continue to be amazed at how this event has not only grown in size, but grown to become personal to me and the individuals involved,” Tracy Lawrence shares. “I’ve actually become acquainted with some of the folks who have graduated from the program at the Mission; it’s overwhelming to experience their growth. I am moved by how much this little gesture once a year means to them. I wish to extend my genuine ‘thanks’ to all of my friends, the sponsors, media and our community for your help—from the bottom of my heart.”

Although the Mission parking lot was drenched by morning rains, the weather did not dampen the spirit of the event. Generous donations of turkeys, clothing and cash were collected throughout the day; the final fowl figure tallied at just under 800 birds collected and 411 turkeys cooked at 4:30 PM yesterday afternoon. In addition to feeding those individuals in need at the Nashville Rescue Mission over the next few days, Lawrence and his family will also hand-deliver 125 cooked turkeys to a tent city of homeless located not far from his home in Wilson County. The mission’s overall goal is to collect 1000 gobblers before the Thanksgiving week comes to a close; contributions continue to be welcomed and are appreciated.
