Lorrie Morgan Climbs the ‘Pink Ladder’ & Talks Tammy Wynette

In the current monthly newsletter from the popular women’s career website, Pink Ladders, (www.pinkladders.com), Lorrie Morgan is named to the growing list of “Women of Focus.” In the feature, the singer/songwriter and Grand Ole Opry star says that success is a moving target. She offers career advice to other women and acknowledges the people who have been a part of her career success, including another legend, Tammy Wynette.

“Tammy was an amazing songwriter and story teller who wrote from real life experience,” Lorrie says. “She always dressed like a star … Tammy was a beautiful lady and so very gracious. I miss her.”

In the feature, which includes favorite books, music and recipes, along with very pointed career advice, Lorrie says that she is enjoying a reinvigorated career thanks to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

“Music has always been about connecting people and now the internet has opened up a whole new way to connect,” Morgan says.

Morgan points to the importance of goal-setting, is honest about the challenges of living life in a fishbowl and striving for success in a male-dominated industry. She mentions Wynette and other women who have inspired her, including Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Palin and her own mother.

Lorrie offers this advice to women seeking success in their own careers.

“When you share your unique gifts and work from your own personal areas of strength, you will succeed.” She also calls success without passion “pretty hollow.”
