Brett Eldredge

10. There are no words to describe this tweet by @BrettEldredge “My bro @BriceEldredge & I, 1st members of the show “Jackass”..he was gnna let a 2yr old hit a golf ball out of his hand”

9. Some things are fun no matter what age you are. @LauraBellBundy had her fair share of fun this week “I love driving on a beautiful day when there’s no where to go. Windows down. iPod on shuffle and cranked way up. #happiness

8. This week Shawna of Thompson Square experienced the loss of her father.  Country acts, including @glorianatheband, have sent their support “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shawna of @thompsonsquare – God bless you and yours. -Mike Rach Tom”

7. Country newcomer @CanaanSmith played on the Ryman stage for the first time at CRS.  This is what he had to say about the redone stage “You can take the old floor out, but there’s no taking away the history inside this building. Ryman auditorium. One of a kind”

6. A songwriter’s life is based around their guitar.  @BrettEldredge had a scare this week “Knocked my guitar off the couch, I’m scared to look if it is injured..u usually can’t fix a guitar by giving it ibuprofen and icing it down”

Lauren Alaina

5. Having met @Lauren_Alaina, I know that she is not one to go speechless.  That happened at CRS this week.  Here is what she said “Speechless (imagine that)meeting @LionelRichie. Thanks @ShopShoshanna for the dress hook up! (:”

4. Blake isn’t the only country artist on the Voice.  @KeithUrban is taking over the Australian edition of the show.  This is what he had to say about the first day “I LOVE how much great talent we heard tonight @theVoiceAU……..and we’re just getting started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -KU”

3. @BlakeShelton has become a rambler with all the tour stops that he has, but he still doesn’t know how to say all 50 states “Disclaimer: I can’t say Massachusetts OR Worcester correctly even when I’m sober…”

2. With a tour in full swing, @DierksBentley has been away from home, but every once in a while he gets a sign of how good his life is “just got back to bus and #home was playing on the radio. top 5 this week… really means a lot to me and the guys. thanks y’all.”

1. For years, superstar Carrie Underwood was twitter free, but this week that changed! She sent her first tweet on her account @CarrieUnderwood “Hello Twitter world!”

George Strait Suprises Country Radio at UMG CRS Luncheon

_DSC4324

It was an exciting moment on the Ryman Auditorium stage during the UMG/Nashville CRS lunch event Wednesday in Nashville (2/22).

UMG/Nashville’s Royce Risser and Luke Lewis present George Strait with a plaque commemorating his first No. 1 as a songwriter, “Here For A Good Time,” Strait’s surprise appearance to open the show drew multiple standing ovations.  The King performed “I’ll Always Remember You” and “Troubadour,” both of which featured backing guitarists Mac McAnally and Steve Gibson.

Other performers at the luncheon included Lee Ann Womack, who sang “Same Kind Of Different As Me.” The audience stomped to the rhythm of Drake White’s “What You Can’t Have” when he went mic-less mid-song. Randy Rogers Band (“If I Had Another Heart”), Randy Montana (“Little Rock And The Rain”), Josh Kelley (“It’s Your Move”) and Mallary Hope (“Black Widow Spider”) each premiered new music.

Laura Bell Bundy (“That’s What Angels Do”), Canaan Smith (“We Got Us”), Kip Moore (“Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck”), David Nail (“Sound Of A Million Dreams”), Easton Corbin (“Lovin’ You Is Fun”) and Josh Turner (“Time Is Love”) also performed new(ish) singles. “Your Man” songwriter and new UMGN artist Chris Stapleton preceded Turner with “Sometimes I Cry.”

Scotty McCreery made his Ryman debut with “You Make That Look Good,” while Lauren Alaina returned to the venerable stage for the first time since her American Idol audition with “Dirt Road Prayer.”   The concert’s second standing ovation went to Kacey Musgraves, who put her spin on small town living in “Merry Go ‘Round.”

Before singing “Red Words,” Vince Gill revealed that his appearance was a “thank you” to radio as he is no longer a UMG artist.

“For the first time in 30 years, I don’t have a record deal,” he said. “Don’t know that I want one. I’m just grateful for where I’ve been, and you’ve been a big part of where I’ve been and where I’m going. To my MCA family, it was really a sweet ride the last 23 years, and I appreciate everything you do.”

Lionel Richie and guest Luke Bryan closed the show with “Easy” and “Oh No.” “I’ve never been intimidated in my life,” Richie said before the set. “But in this case, Luke came to hotel and [he] knows my catalog better than I do.”

9. She might not be able to walk down the street without getting growls, but at least @WhitneyDuncan didn’t get attacked by the dog in this tweet “A dog confused my boots with an animal this morn & growled at them. #bootswiththefurrrrrr #ihatemondays

8. One thing about being on the road is balancing life and career; @LauraBellBundy looked that dilemma in the eyes this week. “ALL of my girlfriends growing up r holding babies in their Facebook profiles! Am I that behind? I’m just havin too much fun to settle down!”

7. Not everyone is in love with Cupid. Jerrod Niemann (@JRodFromOz) is not a fan of the love bird “Caution: Cupid’s a freak. Never trust a chubby levitating baby w/ wings and a bow & arrow…it not even camo. Happy Valentine’s my friends!”

6. @BrettEldredge hit a twitter milestone this week – personally I love seeing a timeline full of Brett, but he seems to think not “I’ve tweeted 5,000 times exactly right now? Wow, I’m so sorry everyone, that’s a lot of looney Tooney info”

3. Why hire a team for promoting @JakeOwen? He is his own promoter “I’m totally guilty for just finding 2 of my albums at a truckstop and moving them to the front of display.”

2. Sometimes we all need a reminder just how lucky we are. @ChrisYoungMusic experienced just that this week “I love unexpected surprises. Just got one. #lifeiscool

1. Last week @Miranda_Lambert sat next to Lady Gaga at the Grammy’s – it’s a good thing that she didn’t sit next to Chris Brown.  This tweet has started a war between the two, but I have to say Miranda is #winning “How dang long did they give Nicki Minaj to do whatever that was? Strange. And Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl…”
