Evan Farmer! Evan will officially join the CMT family as host of the CMT Top 20 Countdown this Friday, February 5th at 11am.
With Lance Smith’s big shoes to fill (that is metaphorical…Lance was quite short) you might already know Evan from being the host and handyman on TLC’s home makeover series “While You Were Out”. He has a very eclectic background and I am sure you have seen him before.
After graduating from Tulane University with a degree in architecture, Evan moved to New York City to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He first made headlines in 1998, in MTV’s first made-for-television movie and television series “2GE+HER,” which chronicled the spoof boy-band 2GE+HER’S rise to fame. Evan then took his career on the road as he shared the stage with Britney Spears during her 2000 “Oops I Did It Again” summer tour.
Evan says that hosting CMT Top 20 Countdown is a dream job for him.
“I get to interview inspiring people, surround myself with great music and stay close to my family here in Nashville. CMT already feels like home.”
You can start following Evan on Twitter @EvanFarmer and make sure to tune in this Friday for the CMT Top 20 Countdown.
Lance Smith filmed his last CMT Top 20 Countdown this past week…Lance and his wife are moving to Los Angeles to try his hand at acting. We’ll miss you Lance! I can’t imagin the Top 20 without you!!!!
I am so sad! Lance Smith has proudly hosted CMT’s Top 20 Countdown for nearly a decade and helped host so many red carpet events for CMT. In a press release sent out earlier today Lance has decided to end his relationship with the network in search of new creative endeavors.
Lance says;
“I’ll continue to pursue a place in front of a mic or camera, but it will be under a different set of lights.” Smith continues, “Once upon a time, before my decade long stint as a host, I was an actor and it’s time to wear that hat once again. I will forever be grateful for every chance and opportunity given to me by CMT and Country Music. There’s not a better fan base in the world. But most of all I will miss the crews—my friends behind the scenes. It’s the show behind the curtain that I was most fortunate to see.”
“Growing up before our viewers’ eyes, Lance has developed remarkable versatility — sly humor, perfect timing, strong relationships with our stars, and the ability to gracefully handle everything we’ve thrown at him!,” says Brian Philips, president, CMT. “He leaves Top 20 at the height of its biggest ratings streak ever, and his shoes will be hard to fill. We applaud his ambition, and look forward to the next great phase of Lance’s career. His extended family at CMT and MTV Networks thank him for his terrific run.”
Lance is currently working on an independent film being shot around the Nashville area. While film and television acting roles are currently being pursued, Lance will continue to further his hosting career as well.
It’s gonna be hard to see anyone else hosting the Top 2o Countdown Lance and we will miss you!

Thanks to our reader Jessica who sent us Sarah Buxton’s new video “Outside My Window”. She shot the video herself with a few friends for only $80! Way to be resourceful Sarah in the down economy. LOVE IT! It’s a catchy song. Let us know what you think.
What’s the catch you ask? Well, you have to FIND the party…They will be having a little scavenger hunt of sorts…Giving out clues to see if fans can guess the location. Visit www.CMT.com for more information, as well as their Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace pages.
