First Performers Announced for 2015 CMT Music Awards

CMT today announced Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum and Luke Bryan are the first set of highly anticipated performers set to take the stage at the 2015 “CMT Music Awards”. The star-studded lineup marks the loudest night in country music and will broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, June 10th at 8:00 PM ET/PT.

Last week through an ambitious multiplatform rollout, CMT unveiled nominations for the awards, which includes more than 45 nominated artists/groups. This year, each performer scored multiple nods. Country superstar Carrie Underwood is the frontrunner with five awards nominations, including two for “Video of the Year,” two for “Female Video of the Year” and one for “Collaborative Video of the Year” for her duet with Miranda Lambert. Lady Antebellum and Kenny Chesney followed with an impressive four nominations each. Florida Georgia Line and Jason Aldean earned a respective three nominations, while Keith Urban and Luke Bryan both scored two nods. Additional performers, presenters and host will be announced at a later date.

To celebrate the upcoming performances, CMT will be airing nominee videos during morning music hours, while CMT Pure, CMT’s 24-hour music channel, will feature nomination blocks by category throughout the day. In addition, CMT Radio will feature performer interviews on both “CMT After Midnite” and “CMT Radio Live”.

Fans can vote now via CMT.com through June 7 at 11:59 PM ET to determine the winners.  The six finalists for Video of the Year will be announced at the beginning of the live show and fans can then vote at CMT.com throughout the live telecast (ET/CT only) to determine the night’s big winner.

Carrie Underwood Tops CMT Music Award Nominations

CMT today announced the nominations for the 2015 “CMT Music Awards,” the loudest night in country music, airing live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, June 10th at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. On the heels of winning last year’s coveted video of the year, country superstar Carrie Underwood is in contention once again leading the pack with five nominations including two for “Video of The Year” (“Something in The Water” and “Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert), two for “Female Video of the Year” (“Little Toy Guns” and “Something In The Water”), and “Collaborative Video of the Year,” (“Somethin’ Bad” with Miranda Lambert). Close behind are Lady Antebellum and Kenny Chesney, garnering four each. Voting begins now at CMT.com and continues until Monday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. ET.

In addition to the lineup of popular country artists vying for awards, this year’s “CMT Performance of the Year” nominees span a myriad of genres. Pop royalty Katy Perry is nominated for her duet performance of “Roar” with Kacey Musgraves from “CMT Crossroads,” as is nine-time Grammy Award-winning artist John Legend and rock icon Bob Seger. Additionally, rapper-singer-songwriter Aloe Blacc is nominated for “Wake Me Up,” performed with Lady Antebellum at “CMT’s Ultimate Kickoff Party.”

CMT turned to a multiplatform rollout for today’s big announcement. The nominees were revealed in a series of phases kicking off at the TODAY show with a performance by Lady Antebellum. The trio debuted their new single “Long Stretch of Love” and announced nominees for the following categories: “Male of the Year,” “Female Video of the Year,” and “Video of the Year”. Nominations continued to rollout on social media, with Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood, announcing “Group Video of the Year” and “Breakthrough Video of the Year,” respectively, via their social media accounts. Nashville locals got into the action from hot spots around Music City to announce “Duo Video of the Year” and “Collaborative Video of the Year” and “Performance Video of the year,” via CMT’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Performers, presenters and this year’s host will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday, May 16 at 11 am CST at all Ticketmaster outlets and Bridgestone Arena Box Office.

Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelly Entertains at Home for ‘Southern Living’

Charles Kelley of the country band Lady Antebellum opened up his home to Southern Living for the June issue. Charles and his wife Cassie hosted an outdoor dinner party at their home in Nashville and Southern Living was lucky enough to score an invite – and entertaining tips – from the couple.

Cassie says she loves “romance and sparkle” but insists “it’s important to keep it easy and not too fussy.”

2015 CMT Music Award Nominations Kick Off with Lady A on TODAY

Fans will find out which of their favorite country superstars are nominated for a buckle at this year’s 2015 CMT Music Awards when Lady Antebellum kicks off the nominations announcement live on Wednesday, May 13 during the 8 a.m. EST hour of the TODAY show.  The superstar trio will perform their new single “Long Stretch of Love” and announce the nominees for “Female Video of the Year” and “Male Video of the Year” on-air, and reveal the “Video of the Year” nominees at Today.com.

Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood will also join in the fun by announcing “Best Group Video of the Year” and “Breakthrough Video of the Year” respectively on their social media accounts Wednesday morning. Additional categories will be unveiled with the help of Nashville locals via photos taken from iconic areas around Music City and posted on CMT’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram platforms. All categories will be announced by 11 a.m. ET.
