David Nail’s Stripped Down Performance for Ladies Home Journal

After occupying the country radio charts for a marathon 48-week stint, David Nail has finally been rewarded with his first, well-deserved number-one song: “Let It Rain,” the first single off of his The Sound of a Million Dreams CD. Now that he’s top of the heap, though, don’t expect him to lose the perspective he’s been given on his rise to that position.

David tells Ladies Home Journal “There have been a lot of times over the course of my career that it didn’t look like I’d be able to make a record, much less have two out and get to travel the country and tour with people,” the Missouri told me on a recent visit to the Journal. “My short-term and long-term goals are always one in the same. I hope to do something today that allows me a tomorrow. I hope to do something this year that allows me another year. I do not take things for granted.”

Case in point was his reaction to his Grammy nod last year for his vocals on “Turning Home,” off of 2009’s I’m About to Come Alive.

“I can’t remember anything in my life being more unexpected,” Nail says of the moment he got the call about his nomination in the Best Male Country Vocal category. “It was just a whirlwind. I remember literally dropping to my knees and just being overcome with surprise and emotion. I kind of teared up a little bit, went and hugged my wife and said, ‘Baby, I’ve spent a long time trying to get people to like what I do. And evidently the people in this town like what I do.’ ”

Miranda Lambert Covers ‘Ladies Home Journal’

Miranda Lambert is Ladies Home Journal‘s latest cover girl. Inside, Miranda talks about just being a normal girl when she’s at home on her farm with hubby Blake Shelton.

“No makeup for me, and I wear Dickies overalls,” Lambert says. “They’re dangerous, though, because if you don’t work out for a while and you’re wearing overalls, you tend to forget that your jeans might not fit when you put them back on. Perfect for Thanksgiving dinner.”

“I get a lot of girls saying, ‘Thank you for being normal,’” she shares. “Besides my job, I’m a normal girl. I’m from a tiny town in East Texas. I’m a normal size, and my weight fluctuates just like everyone else’s. Every time I do a meet-and-greet a fan will say, ‘You make us feel like it’s cool not to be skinny.’”

Margaret Durante’s Nashville Diaries in LHJ

Ladies’ Home Journal has invited country singer-songwriter, Margaret Durante to be an online guest blogger at LHJ.com. In a series of guest blogs exclusively for their Ladies’ Lounge readers, Margaret Durante’s Nashville Diaries will give readers an inside glimpse into the 23-year-old’s life as she experiences the highs and lows that come with living far away from home while getting a music career off the ground.

Miranda Lambert Covers Ladies Home Journal

It’s no secret Miranda Lambert had an amazing 2010 and her 2011 is looking even better.  In the March issue of Ladies Home Journal she opens up about life with Blake Shelton, her recent weight loss, and why she will always be a small town Texas girl at heart.

Miranda credits Blake for her new found sense of humor;

“Blake is outdoorsy, outspoken and really funny.  I used to have no sense of humor.  Everything was a big deal.  I’ve gotten so much better about not taking things too seriously—and Blake is the reason why.”

She also admits she is comfortable with her current weight;

“I’ve always been a size eight-ish.  Now I’m down to a six. Which is fine with me.  When you’re on stage, you don’t want to be thinking about what’s jiggling.”

Make sure to pick up the March issue of Ladies Home Journal for the full interview and details about her homelife and career.
