Kix Brooks Releases New Single “New to This Town”

Kix Brooks- New to this Town

Kix Brooks’ first Arista Nashville solo single, “New To This Town” (Featuring Joe Walsh), officially hit the airwaves this week becoming Billboard’s most added song and Country Aircheck’s second most added song on the country airplay charts with a combined 48 reporting stations playing the song.

“The single’s title, ‘New To This Town,’ pretty much says it all,” explains Kix. “I’d written the song with some old friends and wanted to put it down while it was fresh in my mind. It was as if it were meant to be. Then it was mentioned, ‘some Joe Walsh sounding slide’ would sound great on the track. What are the chances the man himself would be generous enough to help me out!! What you hear today is a lotta luck….and a little bit of magic. You can’t go back, but finding a place to start over is what makes life worth living – I’m really excited!!”

USA Today names “New To This Town” (Featuring Joe Walsh) as their “Pick of the Week” in their current issue on stands today. Co-written by Brooks and longtime friends Marv Green and Terry McBride, “New To This Town” (Featuring Joe Walsh) is available now at iTunes.

For 20 years, Kix Brooks was with Brooks & Dunn, the most successful duo in country music having sold more than 30 million albums, released 23 No. 1 singles, and winning 80 major industry awards including becoming the most awarded act in ACM history.

Carrie Underwood, Jake Owen, Sara Evans and More WOW Radio Crowds on the 2012 Sony Boat

Sony Boat

The Sony/Nashville General Jackson Show & Dinner Cruise closes with a group performance Thursday night in Nashville (2/23). Pictured (l-r) are Kix Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Kristen Kelly, Sara Evans and Jake Owen.

With a benediction from good captain Gary Overton (Sony/Nashville Chairman) and hosted by mates Sara Evans, Kellie Pickler and Storme Warren, the 26th General Jackson Show & Dinner Cruise sailed into new musical waters Thursday evening (2/23). Jake Owen opened with “Alone With You,” adding the concert-staple tagline of, “I can’t be your booty call.” “Thanks for changing my life,” he said before performing his first No. 1
“Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”

Newcomers included Tyler Farr performing “Hot Mess” and “Hello Goodbye,” with Kristen Kelly offering “You Love To Make Me Cry” and “Ex-Old Man.” The new Love And Theft punctuated their “Angel Eyes” and “Runaway” performance with a dual-guitarlead- Skynyrd-riff coda from picker/producer Josh Leo and Jason Jordan.

Casey James recalled thanking the boat crowd last year and only now knowing what he was really thanking them for, then played “Let’s Don’t Call It A Night” and “Crying On My Shoulder.” Banter between the hosts was lively, with Warren’s remark about Evans’ combined family drawing spirited response. “We have seven children together,” Evans said. “And I’m very happy to be here tonight.” And later: “We’re starting our own Feed The Children chapter in Birmingham.” Pickler and Evans performed at a satellite stage between main stage sets – “Stop Cheating On Me” and “100 Proof” by the former, and “Suds In The Bucket” and “Anywhere” from the latter. Josh Thompson delivered “I’m Comin’ Around” and “Way Out Here.” Kix Brooks debuted with a driving rock sound on “Let’s Do This Thing” and single “New To This Town.”

Kix Brooks to Release First Solo Single

Kix Brooks- New to this Town

Kix Brooks will release his first Arista Nashville solo single, “New To This Town” (featuring Joe Walsh), to radio on March 19th. After spending twenty years as one half of Brooks & Dunn, the most successful duo in country music history, Kix is heading in his own direction.

“It’s a freedom of sorts,” shares Kix about Brooks & Dunn coming to an end. “It’s not a bitter freedom by any means, just sort of a ‘well that was fun, now what?’ Sort of like being at a theme park and looking around after riding the same roller coaster you finally say, ‘Ok I think I’ll try that one over there!’”

Kix’s ‘new ride’ begins with his first solo single on Arista Nashville, “New To This Town” (featuring Joe Walsh), co-written by Brooks and longtime friends Marv Green (Brooks & Dunn’s “Proud Of The House We Built”) and Terry McBride (Brooks & Dunn hits “If You See Him/If You See Her” and “Play Something Country”).

“It paints the powerful emotion we’ve all known, of lost love and the uncomfortable situation of running in to that person again.” Kix says that “after a couple phone calls, and the sending of a music file across the internet, the man himself put his stamp on ‘New To This Town’ like only Joe Walsh could!”
