When you first hear him speak in his deep voice it reminds you instantly of his brother, the late Johnny Cash, but after speaking with him you quickly understand that Tommy Cash has made his mark and has given us great country music outside the shadow of his brother.
His recording career in the late 60′s and early 70′s produced the kind of country music that all traditional country music lovers pray they will hear again on the radio. With two top 10 singles, One Song Awa, Rise and Shine, and his number 1 hit “Six White Horses” you wonder why he never dreamed that at age 69 he would get to record another album.
“Fade to Black” features duets with country music greats like George Jones, Marty Stuart and his sister, Joanne Cash. Along with a few tribute songs to honor his brother Johnny, “Fade to Black” promises to take you deep into country music roots and will leave a lasting impression.
Tommy says he cannot step onto a stage with “just jeans and a t-shirt on”. He says he know that the people came out to see a show and he enjoys dressing up and giving it 100% every night.
Here is a clip from CMTT’s interview with Tommy talking about his Johnny Cash Tribute Show that is still playing to sell out crowds in the US and overseas.
Just recently while out touring to promote “Fade to Black” Tommy was taken by surprise when he was presented with the “Colonel Aide de Camp,” an honorary commission in the State of Tennessee that has been awarded to individuals for meritorious service since 1943.
