Brad Paisley, Vince Gill and More on New Mark Twain Tribute

Brad Paisley, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow, Ricky Skaggs, Joe Diffie and others are paying tribute to Mark Twain.

They are part of a two-CD set, with a 40-page booklet, called “Mark Twain: Words and Music.” It’s spoken word and music to tell the life story of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, AKA Mark Twain, whose 175th birthday was celebrated last year.

The double-album is narrated by Garrison Keiller with Clint Eastwood as the voice of Twain and Jimmy Buffett voicing Huck Finn. It’s on Buffett’s label, Mailboat Records, and is available for purchase now. The CD is a benefit for the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum in Hannibal, Missouri.

Country Music Billboard Charts – 8/19/2011

Luke Bryan’s “Tailgates and Tanlines” goes right to the top. It debuts at number one on Billboard’s country albums chart. It pushes last week’s first, second and third-place albums down a notch, in order. So, “Chief” from Eric Church is in second this week, followed by Jason Aldean’s “My Kinda Party” and Blake Shelton’s “Red River Blue.”

“Just a Kiss” by Lady Antebellum stays in first place on Billboard’s country songs chart. Last week’s second and third-place songs trade places. This week, Dierks Bentley’s tune, “Am I the Only One,” is in second and “Knee Deep” from the Zac Brown Band, featuring Jimmy Buffett, is in third.
