Sawyer Brown is a ‘Travelin’ Band’

Celebrating their 30 year anniversary this year, Sawyer Brown releases their 23rd album, Travelin’ Band, today (October 10th, 2011). The CD, featuring the lead-off single “Smokin’ Hot Wife,” has been in the works for the past couple of years.

“We’ve been working on this album so long that they were still called albums when we started working on it,” jokes lead singer, Mark Miller, who also produced the CD.

Travelin’ Band features new songs by Miller and bandmate Hobie Hubbard, as well as songs by Tom Douglas, Jeffrey Steele, and Love and Theft’s Stephen Barker Liles.

“We’ve been blessed to be making records for about 26 years now,” Miller said, “and the great thing about taking some time between the last CD and this one is that it gave us more time to write and to listen to a lot great songs from our songwriting buddies. And, as we’ve found out over the years, there’s no better place to try out new songs than on the road–and you know we’ve never been shy about going on the road.”

The physical CD for Travelin’ Band is available exclusively through SawyerBrown.com and the band’s live events. It is available for digital download on iTunes, with Amazon, Rhapsody, Spotify, Napster and others coming soon.

Rascal Flatts are celebrating their songwriters next week in a ceremony at Musician’s Hall of Fame in Nashville.

“It all starts with a song, we’ve believed that from day one,” said Jay DeMarcus. “We are so grateful and humbled by the fact that so many of Nashville’s finest song writers have been with us on this incredible ride. We’ve lent our voices to some of these songs that have, quite literally, changed people’s lives. What an enormous blessing. This is just our small way of saying thanks for an incredible first ten years and then, toasting to the next ten!”

Among those to be honored include the seventeen writers of Rascal Flatts 11 #1 singles, including Blair Daly, Marcus Hummon, Wendell Mobley, Jeffrey Steele, and Neil Thrasher.

The Nashville Music Garden will be home to over six dozen flowering plants baring the names such as Barbara Mandrell, Grand Ole Opry, Minnie Pearl, Pretty Woman, Purple Haze, Elivis, Ring of Fire, Tennessee Waltz, Alabama, Dolly Parton, Kiss an Angel Good Morning, Hank Williams, Reba McEntire, Amy Grant, and many more.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Nashville Music Garden. There are plenty of eye-sores in the world. Thank goodness for people who fight back with flowers. God bless ‘em!” says Pam Tillis, another celebrated artist of the garden.

The dedication ceremony will be on Tuesday, September 29th at 10:30am. The star-studded event is expected to include Barbara Mandrell, Ralph Emery, Steve Holy, Little Jimmy Dickens, Jeffrey Steele, and the families of Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and Minnie Pearl.

The free public event will give the first 500 guests long-stemmed Rio Roses and biscuits from the famed Loveless Cafe. Visit www.nashvillemusicgarden.com

So You Think You Have What It Takes?

Jeffrey Steele is gearing up for his 4th Annual Songwriting Boot Camp at BMI’s Music Row offices September 10-13.   3 Ring Circus Music is currently searching for 12 up-and-comers who will be selected to attend the three-day, two-night career-building experience, spearheaded by Jeffrey, who remains one of contemporary music’s most consistent hit makers.

Throughout the weekend, attendees will participate in co-writing sessions in pairs, benefit from one-on-one coaching from Jeffrey and engage in additional industry-focused activities. As alumni, boot campers will join the ranks of graduates who have gone on to score publishing deals, compose songs recorded by key artists, and in the case of Jennifer Adan, co-write #1 singles (Blake Shelton’s “She Wouldn’t Be Gone”).

WHAT AN AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!

Applications are available on www.jeffreysteele.net/bootcamp and are due by August 1.  For more information on Jeffrey Steele and 3 Ring Circus Music, please visit www.jeffreysteele.net.
