Taylor Swift the Movie Star

Tawny said it months ago when Taylor Swift was filming her first television appearance on CSI.  She said that Taylor was destined for the big screen.

Celebrity Gossip is reporting that Taylor was on set of the movie “Valentine’s Day” on Thursday (July 30). And it looks like from the cast of this movie that she won’t have any lack of Hollywood friends to lean on for more rolls. Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Taylor, Lautner, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, and Emma Roberts, the latest reports tell that Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah and Carter Jenkins have all just recently joined the cast of this romantic comedy.

Due out in theaters in February 2010, “Valentine’s Day” finds “intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles breaking-up and making-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentine’s Day.”

George Strait: Artist of the Decade

Garth Brooks passed the Artist of the Decade torche onto King George Strait last night.  The show was pretty impressive, and it’s always touching to witness someone meet their idol or hero…Everyone did a superb job…Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton surprised me with a lovely duet; Taylor Swift always brings that innocent daughter-lookin-up to daddy vibe; Jamey Johnson made me laugh; and John Rich made us all see that even the biggest stars are fans when he had George sign his guitar.

The icing on the cake though, was when Dierks Bentley, LeAnn Womack, LeAnn Rimes, John Rich, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram, Brooks & Dunn, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Montgomery Gentry, Sugarland, Keith Urban, Jamie Fox(why the heck does he keep showing up at these things?), and Martina McBride got up to accompany George for the grand finale…”Troubadour.”

Jamie Foxx vs. Billy Ray & Miley Cyrus

Sorry I’ve been slacking the last couple days – - ok weeks…. I’m getting my crap together and am going to catch up soon.  Promise.  That means we have TONS of stuff to giveaway in the upcoming weeks, more CRS interviews to post and more concert reviews!!!!!

In the meantime – EVERYONE has been talking about the whole Jamie Foxx attacking Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray firing back.  So to bring it full circle here is the WHOLE story:

Jamie Foxx has a satellite radio show and he took a phone call from someone who said that Miley got all upset at the band Radiohead because they wouldn’t meet her backstage at the Grammys. They said she was acting like a little brat.

This apparently set Jamie into a tirade of very inappropriate language, name calling and bad mouthing about Miley.  If you want to hear exactly what Jamie Foxx said about Miley click here.  Be warned – bad language.

Jamie Foxx then went on Jay Leno to offer a “sincere apology” to Miley.  He says that he didn’t mean it maliciously and took the stand that he is a comedian and it was supposed to be funny.

Billy Ray is coming to his daughters defense after the apology from Jamie saying that he didn’t find anything funny or comedic about what Jamie said.    Billy Ray was on the “Bonnie Hunt Show” and said “It was hurtful, there wasn’t nothing funny about it, and quite frankly, I think if I said those things about his daughter he might not find it so comedic,”  You can see more of the interview with Billy Ray on E! News.

Most of our readers know that we are not a big fan of Miley Cyrus.  BUT….we think that Jamie Foxx went way over the lines of what is appropriate when talking about a 16 year old.  Or anyone for that matter.  What do you think?

ACM Awards Updates

Alright, so I can’t help myself.  I have to give my live updates……The blogger in me just can’t let it go.  : )   I will continue to update live so just keep hitting refresh to keep up.

  • Jamey Johnson got the first award of the night for Song of the Year!  Awesome and well deserved.
  • Heidi Newfield singing Johnny & June.  She doesn’t look healthy.  She look old….sorry.
  • Darius Rucker presented Vocal Group to Rascal Flatts!  WHOO HOO!  Sorry Lady Antebellum fans.  We love them to be they have to put in just a few more years to tip this award away from Rascal Flatts.
  • Toby Keith is performing “God Love Her” right now.  I guess he’s alright.  I could really take or leave Toby Keith.
  • Jamey Johnson is back singing his song of the year.  This proves that not everyone sounds like crap singing live on TV.   Really – a good vocalist can sound good on tv.
  • Ok, it’s time for Jamie Foxx to get off the TV.  Introduce George Strait already!
  • George Strait is singing Troubadour.  Again, I know people think he is a legend but I am not personally a huge fan.
  • TOP NEW ARTIST IS…Julianne Hough!  WHAT?  REALLY?  SERIOUSLY?  I really, really like Julianne but I think that some of the other artists who were nominated deserved the award.  BUT…the fans voted and have spoken.   Do you think her popularity has anything to do with DWTS or is it really her music?
  • David Copperfield – cheezy……
  • Taylor Swift is playing piano – who knew she could play piano?  She doesn’t sound very good.  Anyone surprised by that?  Oh – she is singing “Your Not Sorry”.
  • Taylor just received a Milestone Award for selling more albums that any other country artist this year.  The girl doesn’t sound great live but she can make fan connections and she sells music!  Way to go Taylor!
  • Lady Antebellum is performing “I Run to You”.  They sound AMAZING!  They will one day be best Vocal Group….just not tonight.
  • Leann Womack is performing Last Call.  I think that’s the name of the song.  I’m not a huge fan of Leann.  I think it’s her style of music that I don’t really like.  Just not my style – I think she is a great vocalist though.
  • I predict Sugarland on this award.  Let’s wait and see.   Sugarland takes home the award……see I do know what i’m talking about from time to time.  From the nominees they were certainly the best pick.
  • Tawny thinks that Kellie Pickler looks like an Oscar statue.
  • Keith Urban is performing “Kiss A Girl”.  Yummy….. Keith sounds good.  Maybe the sound guys got it together for the night.  Can I just say that Nicole Kidman looked so darling jammin out to her hubby.   SO CUTE!
  • Miranda Lambert sounds pretty good.  The music is almost louder than her voice though.  She’s a cutie.  Girl power!
  • Rascal Flatts is presenting the Humanitarian Award to LeAnn Rimes.
  • Bad boy John Rich is singing “Shuttin Detroit Down”.   LOVE HIM!
  • Ugggggh!  Miley is up next. Oh and look Daddy is introducing….  (OMG! He is attempting Keith Urbans haircut!  WAY MORE SEXY on Keith)
  • Miley sounds like my three year old when he whines.  I really like this song, “The Climb” but live just doesn’t do it for me.  I think she needs to rethink leaving Disney….
  • Montgomery Gentry is performing.  Sorry – I don’t know the name of this song I think it’s “Hey Ya’ll”
  • Carrie Underwood is singing “I Told You So”.  As always she sounds great.    Her dress is beautiful.  She certainly deserves all of the great vocalist awards but the only entertaining that she does on stage is wardrode changes.
  •  Anyone else wanna go jump off a bridge.  EVERYONE is singing slow, depressing songs.
  • Martina McBride just presented Brad Paisley with Top Male Vocalist award.  He is at home waiting for his wife to give birth.  Funny joke – he said that him and his wife just gave birth to their new baby and he pointed to Little Jimmy Dickens who was sitting with him on the couch.
  • Reba is performing.  Thank God someone is picking up the tempo.  I think this is her new single called “Strange”.
  • Dierks Bentley just presented Carrie Underwood with Top Female Vocalist award.  No surprise there. She certainly deserves it.
  • Trace Adkins is singing.  A military choir just came out to finish the song with him.  Touching song but again…downer.
  • Sugarland is singing “What I’d Give”.  Jennifer sounds good.  Can’t wait to see them open for Keith in August.  Reba just presented Jennifer with a Milestone Award for being the only women to be a song of the year writer since 1972.
  • WOW!  Trace Adkins just won Single of the Year for “You’re Gonna Miss This”.  LOVE THIS SONG and well deserved.  Way to go Trace.
  • Blake Shelton stepping in for diva Tim McGraw who decided he didn’t like what the ACM producers had to say about his performance.  Blake sounds great – he is singing ” She Wouldn’t be Gone”  hmmmmm, he didn’t sing the whole song.  That was strange.
  • Album of the Year goes to Taylor Swift for Fearless.    She is freaking out!  I love it…….
  • Rascal Flatts are singing “Here Comes Goodbye”   They “Melt” my heart.  Don’t forget to go buy “Unstoppable” on Tuesday!  Getting goosebumps.  They sound so good!  : )
  • Why didn’t Matthew Mcconaughey come out with his shirt off to match Reba’s joke?  That would have been SO much better.  I can not believe that he is presenting Entertainer of the Year.
  • KENNY CHESNEY BETTER NOT WIN!
  • Carrie Underwood just won Entertainer of the Year Award.    Sorry – she doesn’t deserve this award.  Cute acceptance speech but she’s not an entertainer.  Just an amazing vocalist.

That does it for this years Academy of Country Music Awards.  Check back tomorrow for more recap.

All That is the ACM Awards

If Kenny Chesney wins entertainer of the year on the Academy of Country Music Awards this Sunday, it will be his fifth consecutive win. He’s up against Brad Paisley, George Strait, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood. If Carrie wins, she will be only the seventh female ever to take home the award. She and George Strait are also up for album of the year, along with Montgomery Gentry, Taylor Swift and Jamey Johnson.

And the Presenters Are…..

Billy Ray Cyrus, Martina McBride, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Kellie Pickler and Dierks Bentley aren’t nominated for any Academy of Country Music Awards this year. But they’re headed to Las Vegas to present awards at the show. Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Matthew McConaughey are some of the non-country presenters.

Does it matter that some of the awards are fan voted? Kenny says he doesn’t like it ….. others say it really doesn’t matter.

This will be the second year the Academy of Country Music’s entertainer of the year is chosen by the fans. And even though Kenny Chesney won it last year, he made it clear that he thinks the award should remain industry-voted. Keith Urban tells “GAC Nights” that if he wins an award, it doesn’t matter who it comes from, because it’s just nice to be acknowledged for what he’s done.

Jake Owen and Zac Brown of the Zac Brown Band both agree that fans should pick the winner. Jake says when it’s industry-voted, labels can make deals for their artists to win, but no one can control how the public votes. Owen and Brown are both up for top new artist, the only other fan-voted award.

The ACMs air live on CBS this Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern.
