Gwen Sebastian sang the National Anthem for the New York Yankee’s Spring Training game against the Detroit Tigers in Tampa, FL. on Sunday, March 28th. Immediately following her performance, she got a hug from actor Richard Gere.
“I met Richard before I went on the field to sing the National Anthem and he asked me if I was nervous,” Gwen explained. “When I finished singing, he came up to me, gave me a hug and told me I did awesome! I couldn’t believe it! Not only did I get to sing the National Anthem for the reigning World Series Champs, but then I got a hug from Richard Gere! What an amazing experience!”
At the pre-season game, Sebastian got the opportunity to meet and spend time with many “V.I.P’s” including Yankees’ Manager Joe Girardi, Pitcher Mariano Rivera, Yankee’s Co-Owner Hank Steinbrenner, Hall of Fame Members Wade Boggs and Reggie Jackson, plus Yankees’ V.P of Player Personnel Billy Conners.
