The Ninth Annual CMA Artist Luncheon was held on March 6. The event was held just hours after CMA announced the 2012 Inductees for the Country Music Hall of Fame: Garth Brooks, Connie Smith, and Hargus “Pig” Robbins. The three inductees were the honored guests at the Luncheon, and later shared stories from their careers in a panel moderated by artist and CMA Board member Kix Brooks.

Top Country Tweets of the Week – Week of February 26th

Brett Eldredge

10. There are no words to describe this tweet by @BrettEldredge “My bro @BriceEldredge & I, 1st members of the show “Jackass”..he was gnna let a 2yr old hit a golf ball out of his hand”

9. Some things are fun no matter what age you are. @LauraBellBundy had her fair share of fun this week “I love driving on a beautiful day when there’s no where to go. Windows down. iPod on shuffle and cranked way up. #happiness

8. This week Shawna of Thompson Square experienced the loss of her father.  Country acts, including @glorianatheband, have sent their support “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shawna of @thompsonsquare – God bless you and yours. -Mike Rach Tom”

7. Country newcomer @CanaanSmith played on the Ryman stage for the first time at CRS.  This is what he had to say about the redone stage “You can take the old floor out, but there’s no taking away the history inside this building. Ryman auditorium. One of a kind”

6. A songwriter’s life is based around their guitar.  @BrettEldredge had a scare this week “Knocked my guitar off the couch, I’m scared to look if it is injured..u usually can’t fix a guitar by giving it ibuprofen and icing it down”

Lauren Alaina

5. Having met @Lauren_Alaina, I know that she is not one to go speechless.  That happened at CRS this week.  Here is what she said “Speechless (imagine that)meeting @LionelRichie. Thanks @ShopShoshanna for the dress hook up! (:”

4. Blake isn’t the only country artist on the Voice.  @KeithUrban is taking over the Australian edition of the show.  This is what he had to say about the first day “I LOVE how much great talent we heard tonight @theVoiceAU……..and we’re just getting started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -KU”

3. @BlakeShelton has become a rambler with all the tour stops that he has, but he still doesn’t know how to say all 50 states “Disclaimer: I can’t say Massachusetts OR Worcester correctly even when I’m sober…”

2. With a tour in full swing, @DierksBentley has been away from home, but every once in a while he gets a sign of how good his life is “just got back to bus and #home was playing on the radio. top 5 this week… really means a lot to me and the guys. thanks y’all.”

1. For years, superstar Carrie Underwood was twitter free, but this week that changed! She sent her first tweet on her account @CarrieUnderwood “Hello Twitter world!”

Gloriana is Giving You a Valentine’s Day Do-Over

Gloriana

Gloriana’s brand new single “(Kissed You) Good Night” is a song about seizing opportunities in love. We’ve all been there – maybe you were too nervous, maybe it wasn’t the right timing, maybe your breath was bad, who knows! Well, Gloriana is here for you, and since it’s almost Valentine’s Day, they want to give you a chance for a little do-over!

Upload a video of your “Should Have” moment! Write your missed opportunity on one side of a poster board, and what you would have done differently on the other side. Upload your video to YouTube, and post it on the contest page. They will pick a winner on Valentine’s Day to get a $100 gift card, plus tickets and meet & greets at a Gloriana show of your choice*.

Rodney Atkins to Headline St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon

rodneyatkins

Rodney Atkins and special guest, Gloriana, will lend their voices to support the 13th annual St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan. Continuing the tradition of combining great country music with Nashville’s premier running event, Atkins and Gloriana will cap the weekend of festivities with a post-race concert at the Bridgestone Arena on Saturday, April 28.

The musically themed road race attracts more than 30,000 runners, walkers and 6,000 junior racers through ING KiDS ROCK Nashville, who will take on the 26.2 and 13.1-mile courses while passing many of Nashville’s best live bands along the route.

“For all these people to come out and push themselves to this great of a length for such a good cause is exciting and definitely something to celebrate,” shared Atkins. “It will be a fun night and I’m looking forward to being a part of it all.”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases is a proud charity partner of the Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon. This year marks the 50th anniversary of St. Jude and its lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children.

Event weekend will kick off the marathon weekend with a free Health & Fitness Expo on April 26-27 at the Nashville Convention Center. There, participants will pick up their race numbers, enjoy free samples and attend interactive clinics on fitness-related topics, such as nutrition and running gear.

For more information or to register for the event, visit Competitor.com and follow the marathon on Twitter @RunRocknRoll. The event is open to the general public and tickets are $35. To purchase tickets, visit the Bridgestone Arena box office or contact TicketMaster online or by phone at (800) 745-3000.
