Kenny Chesney to Produce Football Documentary

Kenny Chesney recently scored his 20th Number One Hit with “The Boys of Fall” and his documentary “Boys of Fall” debuted on ESPN. Chesney continues his relationship with ESPN as producer of a one hour special on Condredge Holloway for their year-long, Year of The Quarterback initiative. The documentary will air February 20th at 8:00 pm Eastern time on ESPN.

Chesney, who wore Holloway’s jersey number when he played high school football, idolized the University of Tennessee quarterback and was thrilled to produce the documentary.

“Condredge has meant so much to so many and is a very important figure in my life and to the history of College Football,” says Chesney. “ I’m excited, with the help of Shaun Silva, to tell his story, to show his journey, and to help show the world just how influential he was to how the game is played today and how many doors he opened for so many athletes that have followed in his footsteps,” Chesney continued. Holloway was the first African-American to start at Quarterback in the Southeastern Conference.

Year of The Quarterback will delve into the topic to find a deeper understanding of one of sports’ most high-profile positions. We’ll examine the leadership qualities, mental toughness, as well as issues of race and recruitment from the “blue chip” high school recruit, to the Heisman hopeful, to the NFL legend. It will tell the story of the quarterback both on and off the field, presented across a range of content formats including documentaries, vignettes and series, and will be integrated into ESPN’s football studio shows over the year: NFL Countdown, NFL Live, College GameDay, college football bowl coverage as well as BCS and Super Bowl programming, and NFL Combine and Draft coverage.

The New Year finds Chesney’s single “Somewhere With You,” at Number four on the charts and is the second single from his critically acclaimed Hemingway’s Whiskey album. The four-time CMA and four-time ACM Entertainer of the Year is set to begin rehearsals for his “Goin’ Coastal” Tour which includes ten stadium shows, and kicks off in March.

No, ESPN, We Are Not Ready for Some Football…

Let me preface this post by saying…I DID NOT WRITE THIS…It is from The Sporting Blog.  I’m just posting it to inform you of how some non-country fans feel about Kenny Chesney being chosen for the ESPN college football game song…Thanks to one of our readers, Adam, who sent us the link…

This thing is called “This Is Our Moment.” You know it will be terrible. You know it in your bones. Hank Williams Jr. has purchased a grave so he can get in it and spin around on September 3rd at seven in the evening, after which he will enjoy some tea. I am anticipating this with dread. I watch inhuman amounts of college football and now Kenny Chesney is going to be following me around telling me this is my moment. I will catch myself at the supermarket humming it once and attempt to slit my throat with smoked salmon. (If you’ve got to go, go high class.) Then I’ll sit in a bathtub sobbing to myself on Thursday night because I want to watch the Virginia Tech game but can’t.

The entire blog is pretty hilarious and you can read it here…but again…I DID NOT WRITE IT so don’t get on my back and jump all over it…Seriously, I’m already having back problems from the Carrie Underwood post.

New Kenny Chesney Song

Kenny Chesney has created a new song for ESPN college football games and telecasts.  During ESPN’s 7pm pregame show on September 3rd, “This is Our Moment” will make it’s debut.  The song will play in and out of commercials.

Chesney was inspired to start writing the song on a cocktail napkin last fall during a dinner in Nashville with play-by-play announcer Brett Musburger, football analyst Kirk Herbstreit and producer Bill Bonnell.

It seems that the list of things Kenny’s name is associated with keeps growing and growing…Rum, clothing, concerts, and now football.
