NOW That’s What I Call Faith – New Music Weekend

I have three or four CD’s in my car (not ALL of them are Rascal Flatts!) that start skipping as soon as I put them in my CD player. I have completely worn them out from over playing and I’m sure a lot of you guys have the same problem. So, if you’re looking for some newer music that’s upbeat and inspiring, then check out “NOW That’s What I Call Faith.” I promise that you will NOT be disappointed. This is the” first ever faith-based compilation” from the same folks who have brought you the “NOW That’s What I Call Music” series for many years; and as they usually do, they’ve hit the mark with this one.

When I first got the CD, I had mixed expectations, even though I listen to a good variety of music ranging from contemporary Christian to country to rock. Seeing artists who have definitely carved their place in mainstream music like The Fray, Daughtry, and Carrie Underwood alongside top Christian acts such as Third Day, tobyMac, and BarlowGirl on the same track listing doesn’t happen very often, if ever. That’s part of what makes this CD so great though. Even if you don’t consider yourself a fan of faith-based music, there is something for every listener on this CD. You might surprise yourself and find out that you’re open to more music than you thought!

My favorites on the CD are “Tonight” by tobyMac, “Call My Name” by Third Day, and “Lay ‘Em Down” by Needtobreathe. Also, I think that listing “Home” by Daughtry as the final track on the CD was definitely the right decision. It ties the tracks together well and is a fitting end to a compilation aimed at bridging musical genres and maintaining a positive message. No matter which is your favorite out of the sixteen songs, after listening to this CD, you can’t help but feel a little more upbeat, yet also a little more peaceful at the same time. “NOW That’s What I Call Faith” has a great mix of both uptempo and slower paced tracks and really does have something for everyone. One of your favorite artists might draw your attention to this compilation but the entire set deserves a listen!

Track Listing includes:

“You Found Me” by The Fray
“Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood
“Call My Name” by Third Day
“Tonight” by tobyMac
“Live Life Loud” by Hawk Nelson
“Pocketful Of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield
“Free To Be Me” by Francesca Battistelli
“One Step at a Time” by Jordin Sparks
“God In Me” by Mary Mary
“Higher Than This” by Ledisi
“Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath
“Our Worlds Collide” by BarlowGirl
“Closer to Love” by Matt Kearney
“Lay ‘Em Down” by Needtobreathe
“Always” by Switchfoot
“Home” by Daughtry

43rd Annual Country Music Awards – Country Music’s Biggest Night

CMA Awards

Country Music Tattle Tale will be updating and blogging the 43rd Annual Country Music Awards LIVE tonight!
Our live chat will start at 6pm (cst). Make sure to join in and chat. We will be giving away prizes every hour during the awards show.

See you tonight!

This is a java run chat room, please give it just a minute to load before you start getting upset at the computer.

  • Taylor Swift opened the Show with “Forever and Always”  She opened it just like her tour, interview with Nancy O’Dell then popping out of the stage….Didn’t sound great, but I still like her.
  • Carrie and Brad look great.  Brad is already joking about Carrie’s costume changes and we’re only on dress #1.
  • Kid Rock is presenting Single of the Year.  And the first award of the evening goes to…….I Run to You – Lady Antebellum!  OMG!   Shocking!   Very happy for them.  I just got goosebumps.
  • Tawny and I both agree that Brad and Carrie have great chemistry together this year.
  • Darius Rucker performing “All Right”.   I LOVE THIS MAN!  He’s fabulous live.
  • Jake Owen and Kellie Pickler just presented Song of the Year Award to Jamey Johnson & James Otto for “In Color”
  • Miranda Lambert performing “White Liar” and looking stunning I might add.  Blake Shelton you are a lucky man.
  • Brad Paisley performing “Welcome to the Future”.  The sound on the show is not up to par tonight.  Brad is by far the best performance thus far tonight.
  • Zac Brown Band performing “Devil Went Down to Georgia”.   The only person that does this song better is Charlie Daniels.  DAMN – Zac Brown Band the best performance so far this evening.  No sound problems here.
  • George Strait performing “Twang”.
  • Lady Antebellum is performing “I Need You Now”.  Beautiful stage and sounding amazing!  I love that they took home Single of the Year.
  • Patricia Heaton & her co-star (can’t remember his name) are presenting Group of the Year – Lady Antebellum!!!! OMG!!!!!  I can’t say anything about this right now.
  • Ok, I have gained my composure.  Congratulations to Lady Antebellum…this is your night!  2 in a row.  Although on a personal level, Rascal Flatts are deserving of that award.
  • Carrie Underwood performing “Cowboy Cassanova”.   She sounds great as always but she is leaving little to the imagination in that outfit.  Someone in our chat room said it best…….
  • The Judds are presenting New Artist of the Year…. and the award goes too…….Darius Rucker!  Very well deserved.    I am jumping up and down right now!   YEAH!!!!
  • Vince Gill and Daughtry performing “Tennessee Line”  I know Daughtry isn’t country but I have heard more non country songs on the show already performed tonight.
  • Little Jimmy Dickens just interruped Brad Paisley on stage like Kanye!!!!!  I LOVE IT!  Little Jimmy Dickens just said “You Go Girl!”
  • Keith Urban performing “Til Summer Comes Around”  YUMMY!  I mean… I love this song.
  • Tim McGraw is singing ”Southern Voice”.
  • Sugarland!!! I love Sugarland.  They are performing and sound great!  Not my favorite Sugarland song but they sound good and are AMAZING performers.
  • Randy Houser and Robin Roberts are presenting an award together but not before we get a look at cutie Drake from “Boots On”.    Randy’s laugh makes me laugh.   Album of the Year goes to:  Taylor Swift!  Can’t say that there is any shock there.   The sales of her album were above all the best.  Did I mention how much I love her dress
  • Brooks & Dunn performing their last ever song on the CMA Awards.  “Honkeytonk Stomp” and joining them on stage is ZZ Top!   So many country music fans are sad to see this duo coming to an end.
  • Kid Rock and Jamey Johnson performing together.  I really like Kid Rock but i’m not a big fan of this song.  That was quite a boring performance.
  • Newly single Julianne Hough presenting with Dale Earnhardt Jr.   Vocal Duo of the Year goes to..SUGARLAND!   WOW!  Sugarland upsets Brooks and Dunn on their way out!
  • Taylor Swift performing “15″ in the middle of a crowd of ….. students from Hendersonville High School and you guessed it …they are all 15 years olds and singing along.
  • Brad Paisley takes home Male Vocalist of the Year.  Many Keith Urban fans very upset right now.  Don’t believe me….check Twitter.
  • Jason Aldean is singing “Big Green Tractor”.  I like this song and Jason Aldean but it’s not the most fun to watch him do live.
  • Martina McBride helping to honor Barbara Mandrell and is singing “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool”.  Oh…wait…there’s George Strait singing to!
  • Reba McEntire performing “Consider Me Gone”.  Reba sounds amazing as always.  @jakeoffical thinks Reba is HOT!!!!!! via his Twitter.
  • Billy Currington performing “People Are Crazy”.    So Billy Currington gets to perform but Rascal Flatts doesn’t?   People really are crazy!
  • Kris Kristofferson and LeeAnn Womack are presenting the Female Vocalist of the Year Award together.  And the award goes to Taylor Swift.   WOW – I love Taylor but don’t agree with this call.  This should have went to Carrie or Miranda.
  • Dave Matthews and Kenny Chesney singing “I’m Alive”.  I must say that these two sounds great.  Does Kenny wear that same outfit for every awards show?
  • Faith Hill & Tim McGraw presenting Entertainer of the Year!  And the nights highest honor goes to…..Taylor Swift.  Taylor gave a very emotional acceptance speech and gave thanks all of the other nominees who let her open up for them this year.

Country Music’s Biggest Night has come to an end!  Leave your comments and let us know you thought of the evening.  High, lows, suprises and great performances.

Thanks so everyone who chatted with us online and on Twiter tonight!  Tawny and I had a great time!
