This week, country’s hottest newcomer Colt Ford teamed up with rock/rap legend Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels of Run-DMC.
“Both country and hip-hop music are about ‘telling the story’ and ‘painting a picture’—that’s why we do what we do,” Colt said about the session with Darryl. Colt later reflected on their collaboration, stating that his songwriting dynamic with Darryl was very real and organic. “We just clicked. Writing with Darryl was a huge honor for me –he’s a rock n’ roll and rap icon.” Darryl reciprocated the sentiment telling Colt, “you can hold your own with any rapper in the industry.”
“Ride On…Ride Out” will be included on Colt’s new album slated for release in April 2010, Chickin’ & Biscuits, but in the meantime, don’t be surprised if Colt shows up to his next show wearing shell toe cowboy boots. “Darryl said he was going to get me some made!”
