Tracy Lawrence 5th Annual “Mission Possible” Turkey Fry a Huge Success

Tracy Lawrence, some famous Music City friends, MTSU students, local media and volunteers from the Nashville Rescue Mission joined together Tuesday, November 23, 2010 to donate their time at the 5th Annual Tracy Lawrence Mission Possible.

Held for the benefit of the Nashville Rescue Mission, the philanthropic group—comprised of over 100 volunteers—fried-up turkeys for the meal kitchen’s Thanksgiving dinner and Wilson County’s homeless.

Some of Music City’s biggest and brightest names gathered to cook and visit with volunteers and fans. Joining the Master of Ceremonies, Tracy Lawrence, in the “group fry” were his friends in music and entertainment: Brad Arnold (Three Doors Down,) GAC’s Suzanne Alexander, Bo Bice, Burns & Poe, Chelsea Field, Matt Gary, LoCash Cowboys, Lathan Moore, Lorrie Morgan, Danielle Peck, Matt Kennon, The Roys, radio personalities Big D & Bubba and the Titans Cheerleaders.

“I continue to be amazed at how this event has not only grown in size, but grown to become personal to me and the individuals involved,” Tracy Lawrence shares. “I’ve actually become acquainted with some of the folks who have graduated from the program at the Mission; it’s overwhelming to experience their growth. I am moved by how much this little gesture once a year means to them. I wish to extend my genuine ‘thanks’ to all of my friends, the sponsors, media and our community for your help—from the bottom of my heart.”

Although the Mission parking lot was drenched by morning rains, the weather did not dampen the spirit of the event. Generous donations of turkeys, clothing and cash were collected throughout the day; the final fowl figure tallied at just under 800 birds collected and 411 turkeys cooked at 4:30 PM yesterday afternoon. In addition to feeding those individuals in need at the Nashville Rescue Mission over the next few days, Lawrence and his family will also hand-deliver 125 cooked turkeys to a tent city of homeless located not far from his home in Wilson County. The mission’s overall goal is to collect 1000 gobblers before the Thanksgiving week comes to a close; contributions continue to be welcomed and are appreciated.

Celebrities Hit The Green At Nashville Celebrity Golf Tourney

Nashville teed-off last Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the Hermitage Golf Course to show their support at the 10th Annual Waddell & Reed Celebrity Golf Tournament.

Fifty teams of four participated in the event with 32 celebrities joining sponsors and members of the community. Golfers played 18 holes on the picturesque course just outside Nashville and, hosts with the most, sharing in the fun, were the dynamic country music duo, Burns & Poe.

I find this kind of participation and friendship the greatest part of Nashville and the music industry.” Michelle Poe said. “Coming out, meeting fans and lending a hand, all in fun, to raise money is just one of the reasons I love this town!”

“My mother has rheumatoid arthritis and raising money for that charity in particular, which is so important to me personally, made the event even more special,” Keith Burns added. “Calling on friends to work AND play together strengthens country music, makes me happy and does leaps and bounds for the charities.”

Joining Burns & Poe and representing some of Music City’s best were legends Steve Cropper, Larry Gatlin, and Marty Raybon, award-wining songwriters and artists Ira Dean and Eric Heatherly, members of Ricochet, The Roys, Little Texas, LoCash Cowboys, The Grascals, Bo Bice,  Danielle Peck, Dustin Wilkes, Shane Thomas, Matt Gary, Lathan Moore, Scott Lindsey and Brother Trouble. Titan Craig Hendrix and LPGA golfer Clarissa Childs were among the athletes who lent their talents to the game.

Following golf, team members and attendees bid on unique memorabilia donated from Music Row. With the donations, participation fees and live auction items, nearly $20,000 was raised for The Arthritis Foundation and Christmas 4 Kids Inc. The item bringing the biggest price tag ($2,700) was a Rascal Flatts concert/bus trip (including an opportunity to join the guys on their road home). Dan Post Boot Co. also donated an assortment of boots to winning players.

Songwriter’s Night Raises over $25,000 for Nashville Academy

Chad Warrix called upon some friends for a Songwriter’s Night on February 6th benefiting Franklin Road Academy. The event was held at Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant in Franklin, TN and featured performances by artists/songwriters such as Chuck Cannon, Danielle Peck, Randy Houser, James Slater, alongside host Chad Warrix. The benefit raised over $25,000 for the Academy.

Chad was the organizer and host for the evening and said, “It’s really cool to put together a night like this for charity. All our friends are simply amazing and when it comes to a kid’s education, we never hesitate to help each other out. In fact, that night I got lost in the moment and found myself feeling like a part of the audience, just sitting back and enjoying their talents.”

Chad recently revealed Halfway to Hazard duo partner, David Tolliver, and he are taking a break from touring in order to pursue separate interests. Chad will make an announcement regarding his future efforts in coming weeks. In the meantime, he is joining Randy Houser on the road as lead guitarist for a series of dates.
