To wrap-up day 1 at CRS, we headed down to The Hard Rock Cafe downtown Nashville for the Capitol Records party. The event treated those in attendance to a rare club performance from some pretty big stars including Darius Rucker, Little Big Town, and Keith Urban.
Capitol newcomer, Walker Hayes, kicked-off the night with his first single, “Pants,” before singing a brand spankin-new song called “Touching Toes.” As always, Walker was great. He performed his newest single “Why Wait for Summer” before opening the stage for Little Big Town. If you haven’t caught Walker Hayes live yet…I’d like to know what in the world you’re waiting for. Little Big Town sounded FANTASTIC! I’ve never seen them in such a small venue, and they had every hand in the joint clappin to “Little White Church” before singing the song they’d wish they’d written, “Shut Up Train.” Wow! This was one amazing performance! The group ended the night with the title track of their album, “The Reason Why.”
Darius Rucker is always a crowd favorite. With all of the years behind him rockin-out with Hootie and the Blowfish, he already knows how to own a crowd. He performed “Come Back Song,” a funny drinkin tune “One Tequila,” and rowdy-favorite Hank Williams cover “Family Tradition.”
Last to take the stage was a surprise-to-us, Keith Urban. As many of you know, I am a HUGE Keith Urban fan. He’s easy on the eyes and ears, and his music has helped me through some pretty tough things. It was a rare treat to see Keith so up-close and personal in a small venue like the Hard Rock. He proved that the size of the venue doesn’t warrant the size of the performance…Keith sang his new single, “Without You,” “I’m In,” and a cover that is escaping my mind at the moment…Probably cuz I was too busy being mesmorized…floating away by some entirely-to-stellar guitar playin.
