‘An Evening with Dolly’ Goes Gold

An Evening with Dolly

The first-ever Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® two-disc set, An Evening With…Dolly, has earned a Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Gold award. The DVD/CD was RIAA certified just four weeks after its April 2 release date and its debut at #2 on Billboard’s Top DVD Music Videos Chart.

The RIAA gold award marks a first for Cracker Barrel and the first for Dolly Records in the U.S., with previous Gold certifications in Australia and the United Kingdom.

“I’m thrilled that so many fans are listening to my songs and taking a look behind-the-scenes of my European tour,” said Dolly. “I had a wonderful time performing in London and I think the audience did too. It’s exciting to be able to share my experiences with Cracker Barrel fans. And I have to tell you, I’m even more excited that An Evening With…Dolly earned the first Gold in the Cracker Barrel exclusive music program. That’s just icing on the cake.”

“We’re very pleased that An Evening With…Dolly has been so popular with our guests,” said Julie Craig, Cracker Barrel Marketing Manager. “It is our first two-disc set and the first Gold for our exclusive music program. We just couldn’t be prouder of the quality and energy that Dolly brought to this project.”

The first-ever Cracker Barrel two-disc set was the second project with Dolly Parton and is available for $11.99 exclusively at all Cracker Barrel locations and online at crackerbarrel.com.

“In true Dolly fashion and always on the cutting edge, Dolly was the first to be SoundScanned in Cracker Barrel’s exclusive music program, and now their first gold record,” said Dolly’s Manager/President of Dolly Records Danny Nozell.

Oak Ridge Boys Member Brings Patriotic Pages of G.I. Joe & Lillie to Cracker Barrel

Oak Ridge Boys

Joe Bonsall of The Oak Ridge Boys has released his best-selling book, G.I. Joe & Lillie: Remembering a Life of Love and Loyalty, at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®. This moving account of his parents, Joe and Lillie Bonsall is a powerful story of patriotism, bravery, deep commitment, and unmovable faith.

The Grammy-winning singer says the project will enable him to further share the legacy of the inspiring publication which symbolizes the essence and core values of America.

“I am honored beyond words that Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is now carrying my G.I. Joe & Lillie book. Along with all of these years of singing with The Oak Ridge Boys, writing this book has been a highlight of my life and its constant success has been downright incredible,” he says.  “I think the reason people love this book is that so many folks from the Greatest Generation lived the same or, at least, very similar story,” Bonsall adds.

He describes having G.I. Joe & Lillie at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® as truly meaningful and relevant.

“Our great Veterans who gave so much for our freedom are always there eating at Cracker Barrel because they know that this is a company that cares about them deeply as does ALL of Middle America. I know I do… that is why I wrote this book. A story that honors my parents and their service to America,” the Grand Ole Opry member explains.

Previously, Joe Bonsall wrote a song in honor of his parents, both members of the U.S. military during World War II. The Oak Ridge Boys took part in a patriotic television show which was directed and produced by Sherman Halsey. During the performance, they sang the song, G.I. Joe & Lillie, as a tribute to Bonsall’s parents, shortly after their passing. A video of the performance was uploaded to YouTube by a fan, creating headlines and generating more than 2.8 million views.

A critically-acclaimed author, Joe Bonsall has had articles featured in many publications. Books he’s written include From My Perspective, Molly the Cat children’s book series, The Oak Ridge Boys: An American Journey,  and An Inconvenient Christmas. Josh Turner’s ‘Punching Bag’ Out June 12th

Josh Turner's Punching Bag

With four No. 1 smash hits in “All Over Me,” “Your Man,” “Would You Go With Me,” and “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” and over 5 million albums sold since his critically-acclaimed debut Long Black Train, Josh Turner is slated to release his fifth studio album, Punching Bag, to stores nationwide on Tuesday, June 12th. The first single from the new album, “Time Is Love,” is in the Top 20 on the Country Billboard chart and swiftly rising.

Josh co-wrote eight of the 11 tracks on Punching Bag, many penned within the four walls of his newly built cabin located on his property behind his home to serve as a ‘songwriter’s den’ and personal getaway. The cabin is inspired by his home state of South Carolina and, Josh admits, contains some of his most prized possessions.

“I spent two years building my writer’s cottage. Once it was finished I was immediately in there writing songs. In total, I’ve written 27 songs in there and eight of those ended up on the record,” says Josh. “My hero and friend, John Anderson, was sitting across the table from me one day when we were writing and said, ‘What will really be a great day is when the songs you write here end up paying for this place!’”

The cabin made for a great escape the day Josh had the idea for the album’s title track, “Punching Bag,” which he wrote with long-time friend and songwriting partner Pat McLaughlin.

“The idea comes from one of those days that we all have, where everything just blows up in your face and nothing goes right. I had just had one of those days, and I came home and was standing in the closet with my wife and I unloaded on her about my day,” Josh tells AOL’s The Boot. “I told her, ‘Sometimes I feel like a punching bag, like life is just beating me up.’ When I said that, it struck me that it could be a huge song title. So I punched it into my phone and saved it. I held on to it until the right opportunity, [when I met with Pat McLaughlin].”

In support of the forthcoming album release, Josh is currently headlining tour dates sponsored by his 2012 tour sponsor, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®. To purchase tickets for upcoming tour dates and for more information on Josh Turner, please visit www.JoshTurner.com.
