Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum and More on Upcoming Anna Wilson Album

Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum, Connie Smith, Kenny Rogers and Larry Carlton are among guests stars in Anna Wilson’s forthcoming album. Here is the official word:

Countrypolitan Duets is the brainchild of Nashville based jazz singer Anna Wilson. This revolutionary new album, which is scheduled for release February 1, 2011, also marks the premier album to be released under an new joint venture between Music World Music and Transfer Records.

Countrypolitan Duets creates a magical union of country, jazz and pop by effortlessly blending the genres to form a fresh but timeless new sound that pays homage to Nashville’s musical roots. To quote noted music historian Robert Oermann: “Top vocalist Anna Wilson has made the first album that fully marries jazz to country music. She is not just shaking hands with two Nashville traditions. She is embracing them both. Brilliantly.”

On Tuesday, November 16th, Anna will make her Grand Ole Opry debut at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, with several of the special guests featured on Countrypolitan Duets — Opry member Connie Smith, country singer Billy Dean, jazz icon Larry Carlton and American Idol finalist Matt Giraud. Wilson’s duet with Giraud on the track, “You Don’t Know Me,” in a special limited preview, reached #1 on the iTunes Jazz Charts shortly after release. On Countrypolitan Duets Anna is joined by numerous GRAMMY® winning artists, current chart-toppers like Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts to legends such as Kenny Rogers, Ray Price, Connie Smith and steel guitar great Lloyd Green. In addition, famed jazz musicians Rick Braun and Larry Carlton add their unique musical interpretations to create a sound that is appealing to jazz and country fans alike. The songs chosen for the recording are some of the most loved singles including Patsy Cline’s “Walking After Midnight” and Ray Price’s “You’re the Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me.”

Country Music Comes Home to the Grand Ole Opry

Tuesday (Sep. 28) was a once in a lifetime show at the Grand Ole Opry.  Our historic and beloved Opry was covered in 4 feet of water only 5 short months ago but was raised and celebrated with it’s family tonight.

“Our family, our songs and our spirit live on.”  ~Marty Stuart

Emotions ran high as the show started with Little Jimmy Dickens and Brad Paisley singing “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”  They were very quickly joined on stage by Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Bill Anderson, Dierks Bentley, Jim Ed Brown, John Conlee, Charlie Daniels, Diamond Rio, Martina McBride, Del McCoury, Montgomery Gentry, Lorrie Morgan, Riders in  the Sky, Jeannie Seely, Blake Shelton, Jean Shepard, Ricky Skaggs, Connie Smith, Marty Stuart, Mel Tillis, Josh Turner, Keith Urban and Steve Wariner.

Everyone took their turn on stage throughout the 3  hours show to celebrate and share heartfelt words of what the Opry means to them.   Each artist said in the own special words; “It’s Good to Be Home”.

There is a plaque on the door of a Grand Ole Opry dressing room Roy Acuff once occupied that reads: “Aint’ Nothin’ Gonna Come Up Today That Me and The Lord Can’t Handle” and it rang true tonight with the sold out crowd.

Not only did country come home but it also gained a proud new family member.  After Trace Adkins and Blake Shelton received a standing ovation for “Hillbilly Bone” Trace presented Blake with a very special tweet from @opry asking him to be the newest member.  Looking shocked, happy and a few steps away from tears the two hugged it out with everyone on their feet in excitement.

As if that wasn’t enough for the emotionally charged night the finale brought Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Ricky Skaggs, Steve Wariner to close down the show.

The history and amazing music that is performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage night after night is both nostalgic and worthy of goose bumps.  Country music is home and Nashville never let the music stop playing.

A Memorable Night at the Grand Ole Opry with Rascal Flatts, Chuck Wicks and More

grand-ole-opry-concert1

Last night was amazing.  Every year during the holidays the Grand Ole Opry takes their show back to where it all started, The Ryman Auditorium.  As I have said in the past the Grand Ole Opry is something that every country music fan should experience at least once in their life.  It is where all of country music’s finest have played, it’s where all of the magic happens and last night was no different.

The highlights of the night for me were Chuck Wicks and Rascal Flatts.

Chuck Wicks

Chuck Wicks was introduced by the legendary Little Jimmy Dickens who said that Chuck has a new album that is being released this week!  WHAT?  Since when did Chuck have a new album coming out?  I have been trying to find information about this all morning and am coming up dry so I will do some more research next week and find out.   Anyways……. The first song that Chuck sang was a BRAND NEW song called “She Gets to Me”.  It is  sexy and I about hit the floor when I heard it.  Ladies, I can’t wait for you to hear the song.   Then he closed his Opry set with Stealing Cinderella.

Before Rascal Flatts even had the chance to be introduced by Mike Snider the crowd in the Ryman Auditorium went crazy! They need no introduction. What was so fantastic about last nights show is they did not sing the typical songs that we are used to hearing. They brought out the old fan favorites. Last nights set was a dream come true for a true Rascal Flatts fan.  Just take a listen:

They belted out an old favorite “Church on Cumberland Road” followed by “Here Comes Goodbye”.  With Gary leading into what I had hoped would be “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” but turned into “Santa Clause is Coming to Town”.    The energy and screams from the crowd were like I had never heard at the Opry before.  Then the highlight of the night for me was them closing out their set with an old bonus track from their Feels Like Today album.  It’s an old Mac Davis song called “Baby Don’t Get Hooked On Me”.

Others who took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry last night were Jimmy C. Newman, Ray Pillow, Jim Ed Brown, Connie Smith, Steve Wariner, Bill Anderson, Stonewall Jackson and Vince Gill.

If you have not had the pleasure to visit the Grand Ole Opry please make plans to.  It is a magical experience that will leave you with a sense of why each and every country music artists loves what they do.

You can see the rest of our pictures from the show on our Flickr page.
