CMA Music Festival celebrates the unique relationship between Country Music artists and their fans in the heart of Music City USA. The artists participate for free, and on their behalf, CMA donates half the net proceeds of the Festival to support music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools through the Keep the Music Playing program. To date, more than $6.1 million has been donated to purchase musical instruments and supplies. The total also includes a $1 million endowment gift for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Words & Music program.

CMTT Exclusive: 10 Quick Quirky Questions with The Lacs

The_Lacs

“People see stuff that is already there and ask why I dream stuff that never was and ask why not”. This saying describes the LACS, they saw what was already there, had big dreams to be there, and asked the music industry why not?

Their hick hop and southern rock sound is stronger than the moonshine they drink. The LACS which is the famous short abbreviation of the Loud Ass Crackers are from the sandy dirt roads of Baxley, Georgia. A South Georgia town more famous for its sawmills and turpentine stills than for having a successful southern rap group. The LACS consist of hip hop artist Clay “Uncle Snap” Sharpe and lead vocalist / guitarist Brian “ Rooster” King. With a blue collar background they have worked shutdowns with the union and framed many a house to earn enough money keep their music dreams alive.

The Lacs are now serving up their intoxicating blend of southern rap and rock on their sophomore album, 190 Proof. Available now in stores and online everywhere, the highly anticipated release includes collaborations with country music stars Big & Rich, as well as platinum selling rapper Bubba Sparxxx, and new artist Crucifix.

The Lacs will join label mate Colt Ford on the road as one of the opening acts on the 2012 “Declaration of Independence” tour. For a complete list of tour dates visit www.thelacsmusic.com

Get SMASHed with Colt Ford

IMG_0001

Colt Ford is known for his larger than life personality and outrageous videos but if you let his “persona” get in the way you are going to miss out on one heck of a good guy!

Colt Ford is a musician. A natural drummer, he is as comfortable laying down a beat as he is in front of the mic, singing and talking honestly about the country life he and his devoted audiences have in common.

Colt recently told CMTT about a time he got in BIG trouble with his mama as a child when he gave the girl he had a crush on a very expensive ring from her jewelry box.    Colt admits, he was “trying to be the gentleman” when courting the young lady in the 5th grade.

Colt’s upcoming album Declaration of Independence features the song “Back”, where Colt writes about this childhood memory.

Don’t forget to check out www.coltford.com to see if his Declaration of Independence tour is coming to a city near you with The Lacs, JB and the Moonshine Band, Rehab and Lenny Cooper.   Tour launches April 6th!

Colt Ford Back in the Studio with No Rules and a Total Freedom

Colt Ford is back in the studio working on his fourth album, Declaration of Independence, and he took time out of his crazy busy schedule to tell CMTT and you what to expect on the album and on tour in 2012.

Colt tells CMTT he went back to the basics with a no rules approach on the album.  He says he let the music tell him where to go.
