Jake Owen, Maddie & Tae & Thomas Rhett Added to CMT’s Ultimate Kick-off Party!

Football fans are gearing up for the College Football Playoff National Championship game next month and in celebration of the biggest weekend of the year for college football, CMT for the first time ever is going to be broadcasting the CMT ULTIMATE KICKOFF PARTY LIVE FROM THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, a live television special premiering on CMT on Friday, January 9th at 9:00 p.m. ET. Just added to the lineup of star performers are Jake Owen, Maddie & Tae and Thomas Rhett. They join the previously announced Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Big & Rich and Brett Eldredge on the live 90-minute special, being broadcast from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. The concert special marks a first-time partnership with CMT and College Football Playoff and is the kickoff entertainment event at the national championship playoff weekend.

The inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship is on January 12, 2015, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Carrie Underwood to Co-Host CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown’s 100th Episode

CMT’s weekly HOT 20 COUNTDOWN, hosted by fan favorites Cody Alan and Katie Cook, airs its 100th episode this Saturday, December 6th at 11 a.m. ET/PT. Country superstar Carrie Underwood joins as a special guest co-host for the milestone episode, giving insight on the songs that have helped define her successful career and are featured on her upcoming Greatest Hits: Decade #1 album. Over the three-hour show she’ll also discuss family and her plans for 2015.

In addition to a full recap of CMT ARTISTS OF THE YEAR, the highly-anticipated No. 1 artist on CMT’s ALL-TIME TOP 40: ARTIST’S CHOICE list, which began its countdown this past March, will also be revealed in this special episode. Each influential musician or band on the list was ranked based on an artist poll conducted by CMT among the biggest stars in country music. Over 100 artists participated in CMT ALL-TIME TOP 40, from legends including Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton and George Strait, to today’s superstars like Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean.

Fans of both country music and college football will be the first to tell you that the two go hand in hand – just like beer and hot dogs. So this year, before they settle in their seats to see who will win the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship, fans will be able to celebrate the biggest college football weekend of the year with the first ever CMT ULTIMATE KICKOFF PARTY LIVE FROM THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, a live television special premiering on CMT on Friday, January 9th at 9:00 p.m. ET. The concert special marks a first-time partnership with CMT and College Football Playoff and is the kickoff entertainment event at the national championship playoff weekend. Superstars Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Big & Rich and Brett Eldredge are scheduled to perform in the live 90-minute special, being broadcast from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. More artists will soon be announced.

CMT to Reair the “48th Annual CMA Awards”

Country music fans can relive the excitement of the “48th Annual CMA Awards” when CMT hosts the cable premiere on Friday, November 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.  The awards show, which originally aired live from Nashville on ABC, is co-hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and features surprise guests and all-star performances from country and pop superstars, including: Jason Aldean, The Band Perry, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, the Doobie Brothers, Florida Georgia Line, Ariana Grande, Hunter Hayes, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Loretta Lynn, Tim McGraw, Ashley Monroe, Kacey Musgraves, Jennifer Nettles, Paisley, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Cole Swindell, Meghan Trainor, Underwood and Keith Urban. CMT will repeat the “CMA Awards” again on Saturday, November 22 at 3 p.m. ET/PT.

Leading into the awards, CMT will also re-telecast “Countdown to the CMA Awards: 15 Songs that Changed Country Music with Robin Roberts,” airing Friday, November 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The special shines a spotlight on 15 iconic songs that made a permanent mark on the country music world, recounting the unique stories behind each.
