Brad Paisley Helps the CMA & Chevy “Keep the Music Playing”

Chevrolet, the official ride of Country Music, is joining forces with the Country Music Association (CMA) to shine a light on music education by partnering with Keep the Music Playing, CMA’s music education initiative.

To kick off their two-year commitment to Keep the Music Playing, Chevy has donated a 2012 Camaro convertible which will be auctioned off to benefit the program. The hood of the Camaro will be autographed by the celebrities that walk the Red Carpet prior to “The 45th Annual CMA Awards.”

CMA Awards co-host Brad Paisley will be the first artist to sign the hood when he performs live on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, November 8 thfrom the Bridgestone Arena Plaza in Nashville.

The partnership announcement will also be included in “The 45th Annual CMA Awards,” airing Wednesday, November 9th on ABC as Paisley helps demonstrate the importance of music education by introducing Mignon Grabois and Charley Woods, students from Nashville School of the Arts. The segment will emphasize Chevy’s involvement with the program as these talented young musicians make their national television debut.

“Chevy is proud to support Keep the Music Playing” said Philip Caruso, Chevrolet National Promotions Manager. “Since 1911, Chevy has inspired musicians and artists worldwide. We are pleased to share our passion for music and foster the dreams of young, passionate musicians.”

“Chevy has always been a great partner to CMA,” said Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “To have them join us in raising funds for music education through Keep the Music Playing proves how committed they are to our artists and the programs that are important to them and to our community.”

Studies show students who participate in the arts are more likely to graduate. Metro’s performing arts students have a 98 percent graduation rate compared to 78 percent for the general population. Chevy, recognizing the importance of music education in keeping kids in school, felt compelled to join CMA in furthering this initiative with a national platform on the CMA Awards.

“Keep the Music Playing is so important, not only to CMA, but also to the great artists who perform at the CMA Music Festival for free so that we can donate to this cause,” said Sheri Warnke, CMA Vice President of Strategic Partnerships. “I’m really excited that Chevy has decided to partner with us so we can take this program to the next level.”

With the support of the iconic automaker, Keep the Music Playing will be able to further its reach with awareness of the program through Chevy’s social media properties as well as on Chevy.com, instrument drives in various markets, and inclusion in Chevy’s owner E-Newsletters.

When the Keep the Music Playing began in 2006, it had been more than 30 years since new instruments had been purchased for Metro Nashville Public Schools. Children were turned away from music programs because there weren’t enough instruments. In other cases, four to five students would share a single trombone. The instruments in the program where held together with duct tape by band directors since funding for necessary repairs was non-existent. To date, through the generosity of the Country artist community, CMA has been able to donate $4.7 million to purchase more than 4,000 instruments.

CMA Fest Day 3

Thanks to Chevy for sponsoring our trip to CMA Fest, CMTT is able to bring you all the scoop from the 2010 CMA Music Festival.  Saturday was day 3 of Nashville’s Biggest Party, and we decided to head on down to Fan Fair Hall.  Saturday was a big day in the Hall.  Rascal Flatts was signing for the first time in years along with a special short acoustic set.  Then we headed over to meet Mindy McCready.  She looked FANTASTIC!  I’m hoping she is indeed getting her act together, because I’d like to see her make a comback.

Saturday night at LP Field was also a doosey.  Easton Corbin made his LP Field debut, and what a fine job he did.  It was obvious that he was absolutely thrilled to be there, and the crowd appeared to love him!  Randy Houser also got everyone up on their feet with “Boots On” and “Anything Goes”…oh, and let’s not forget that contagious laugh. Billy Currington also performed, getting people pumped with his massive hit “People Are Crazy,” along with “Good at Drinking Beer,” “Don’t,” and “Must Be Doing Something Right.”

Last year, Zac Brown Band was a crowd favorite…keeping the stadium on their feet and excited the entire set.  However, this year…although they were good; Zac Brown Band failed to deliver quite the same reaction.  They opened strong with “Toes” but then failed to ever play “Chicken Fried” or their amazing cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”  Instead they opted for “Free” which is a beautiful song, but mixed with the other unknown song, failed to give-us the energy boost we needed to keep up in the heat.

My favorite of the night…and maybe possibly the weekend was Martina McBride. I seem to always forget how amazing she is.  Martina kicked-off the night with “Wrong Baby Wrong” then sang “This One’s for the Girls,” “Anyway,” “Broken Wing,” and “Independence Day.”  She got a MASSIVE standing ovation for “Broken Wing.” She never fails to produce chill bumps.

Rascal Flatts was the big deal of the evening.  Even though their set was interrupted with fireworks, the guys kept truckin on singing several  hits like “Life is a Highway,” “Here Comes Goodbye,” “Bob that Head,” and more.

Day 3 was a scorcher!  Litterally over 100 degrees, but fans still came out in droves to hear some great music and celebrate Nashville’s return!

CMA Music Fest Day 2

CMTT is having a great time covering CMA Music Fest thanks to Chevy who is sponsoring our trip this year.  Day 2 was a BLAST! and we can only imagine it’s going to get better and better!

Yesterday, our first stop downtown was the Chevy Stages at the Bridgestone Plaza to catch Katie Armiger and Brantley Gilbert perform.  It was my first time seeing either of them, and I was extremely impressed, and so did the crowd!

After hitting-up the Chevy Stage, we headed on down to our very first benefit concert.  The Country Music Food For the Soul benefit was held at The Rutledge downtown Nashville.  For $15, fans could come and see some of Nashville’s Up-and-Coming artists. Thompson Square hosted and performed along with Fast Ryde, Matt Gary, Telluride, Ash Bowers, The Harters, Carter Twins, and Mallary Hope. WOW! All I have to say is “watch-out Nashville! You’ve got some serious talent making their way to the top!”

After the concert and a bite to eat, we headed down to LP Field for the nightly concerts. Several seat upgrades were announced throughout the night courtesy of Chevy! They are making sure everyone is having an amazing time at CMA Music Fest!

Last nights line-up had the crowd on their feet! Julianne Hough, Josh Turner, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, and Kid Rock rocked the stadium til midnight. Each act had their highlights. My favorite of the night was obviously Keith Urban. The aussie crooner got a standing ovation when he performed “A Little Help From My Friends.” Sarah Buxton and Little Big Towns Karen and Kimberly sang back-up vocals to the amazing performance. Video of the recent flood played int he background. It truly was amazing.

Day 3 is just around the cover. We’ll be bringing you all the coverage courtesy of Chevy!! On the agenda is more great music from the Chevy Stage, Riverfront Park, and LP Field!

CMA Fest: Day 1 with Luke, Tim, Alan, Danny, Lady A, and Carrie

Wow, CMA Fest is in full-swing downtown Nashville.  I will admit, I was skeptical that the city could pull-off such a massive event so soon after the flood, but Nashville is OPEN for business.  The CMA along with some FANTASTIC sponsers like CHEVY are making sure everyone is having a great time, including CMTT.  Chevy hooked us up with great tickets to LP Field.

CMTT’s day 1 of CMA Fest was busy, exciting, fun, and exhausting…Oh, and let’s not forget HOT!!  We’ve got some great interviews that we’ll have up for you next week from some great artists.  We celebrated a VERY exciting year with our favorite Country Man, Luke Bryan at his Nuthouse Party.  Then we headed to grab a bite to eat before hitting the nightly concerts at LP Field. We want to send a big shout-out to CHEVY who hooked-us-up with some GREAT seats to the show.

The LP Field line-up was nothing short of stellar on Thursday night.  American Idol Alumni and country newcomer, Danny Gokey kicked-off the night after The Oakridge Boys sang “The National Anthem” and treated us to some Elvira.  Danny worked the crowd early in the evening.  Singing his current single and plenty of new tunes too.

Second for the night was the legendary Alan Jackson.  The 20 year music veteren entertained the crowd with a medly of his hits.  I LOVE Alan Jackson!!!  The crowd ate him up, and swarmed into hysteria when he sang “Chattahoochie.”  He also sang; “Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Good Time,” “Hard Hat and a Hammer,” and oh so many more.  The night was HOT, and Alan noticed saying, “It’s hotter than a hoochie coochie out here…” It amazes me that after a 20 year career, Alan still comes across shy and VERY laid-back.

Tim McGraw has sold over 40 million albums, but this was his very FIRST CMA Fest performance!!!! I’m not gonna lie, Tim looks good…dang. But he sounded great too, and the crowd loved him and he soaked it in! Tim went through past and new hits including; “Still,” “Southern Voice,” “Live Like You’re Dying,” “Where the Green Grass Grows,” and many many more. Tim is also the host of CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock on ABC in September.

Up next was Jason Aldean.  WOW!  Jason ROCKED the Thursday night crowd, making it feel like a Saturday.  Nearly impossible to get a good picture because he’s all over the stage, Jason performed several of his many hits.  “Big Green Tractor” is always a crowd favorite, but Jason also performed; “The Truth,” “She’s Country,” “Crazy Town,” and a couple more.

Lady Antebellum just seems to get better and better.  They seemed genuinely happy to see the packed-crowd had indeed flocked to the previously flooded Nashville.  They performed a beautiful set of “American Honey,” “Looking for a Good Time,” “Need You Now,” “I Run to You,” and more.  They had beautiful video screens and seemed so happy to be there.

Last of the night was Carrie Underwood.  Carrie was beautiful, as always.  Rocking a pair of short denim cut-offs and an embellished tank…Carrie was personable with the crowd and put on a great show.  Performing “Wasted,” “Temporary Home,” “Jesus Take the Wheel,” Undo It,” and “Before He Cheats,” Carrie closed-out the show with a BANG!

The night was GREAT!!!  Tonight is sure to be a hit too with Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Josh Turner, Reba, and Kid Rock hitting the stage.  Thanks Chevy and CMA for giving CMTT a chance to share the fun with fans from afar!
