Dierks Bentley Raises Over $204,000 with Nashville Miles & Music

Yesterday thousands gathered at Nashville’s Riverfront park for some great music. Several folks got there via motorcycle ride with stars such as Dierks Bentley, Charles Kelley, Bucky Covington, and more….And all for a good cause. Dierks Bentley’s 6th annual Miles and Music for kids to benefit the Monroe Carroll Children’s Hospital raised over $204,000 dollars.

Several special guests performed prior to Dierks taking the stage, entertaining the crowd for hours. Kicking-off the night was amazing voice Sarah Silva. This girl was nothing I expected. She looked slightly punk when she stepped-out on stage in spandex pants, taking a seat a seat behind a piano. Sarah’s stunning voice took many by surprise. After Sarah was Texas star Kevin Folwer who performed a couple of songs including “That Girl,” “Beer, Bait, and Amo,” and “Long Line of Losers”

Up next, Craig Campbell performed a couple songs off his debut album. Craig performed “Family Man” and had the crowd laughing and singing with his current single “Fish.”

Josh Thompson was up next. Josh is also on tour with Dierks’ Country and Cold Cans Tour. Josh performed an extensive set that included “You Ain’t Seen Country Yet” and “Beer on the Table.”

Country rap artist Colt Ford brought things up several notches. The crowd was on their feet and ready to party….HARD! Colt performed several songs including “Chicken and Biscuits” and the hit song he wrote for Jason Aldean, “Dirt Road Anthem” with a little help from Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley.

The Eli Young band changed speeds a little, bringing it down several notches with an acoustic set. It was a nice change of pace, and really suited them. They performed “Guinevere,” “Always the Love Songs,”and “Crazy Girl” among several others.

Finally, after a very long but exciting day, it was time for Dierks to take the stage. True to form, Dierks packed as many hits as he could into his mini set, with plenty of energy to go around. Dierks performed “Long Trip Along,” “Ready for a Slowdown,” “Every Mile a Memory,” “Feel that Fire,” “Come a Little Closer,” “Sideways,” “How Am I Doin,” “Am I the Only One,” “Lotta Leaving Left to Do,” and more. Dierks wrapped-up his set by accepting a check for the children for just over $204,000.

“You’ve gotta sign it to make it real,” said Daniel…one of the kids who is receiving care from Vanderbilt.

True to form, we took a TON of pictures. You can see them all here. We also will have video of some of the memorable moments on stage as well as interviews with Charles Kelley, Dierks Bentley, Bucky Covington, Craig Campbell, and Kevin Folwer ready for your viewing pleasure this week.

Josh And Charles Kelley Were Discovered By James Brown

Josh Kelley laughs when he recalls that he and his brother, Charles, were discovered by James Brown and Brown’s manager. That’s right. James “I Feel Good” Brown.

Josh remembers that James Brown’s manager, Larry Friday, was trying to sign him and Charles to Atlantic Records. But their dad wouldn’t sign the papers because of their age. Josh says, “we were too young. We were like 14. It was ridiculous.” He says it was weird because the manager was telling them “‘We’re going to go to New York. You’re going to do a big CD release party with all the finest girls in the world are going to be there. Champagne!”‘  But Kelley reminded him they were 14.

He jokes, sure, he would have taken a glass of Champagne. Josh says he has no idea what he and his brother would be doing now if they had signed that record deal when they were 14 and 15. They’ve done just fine without it. Charles is with Lady Antebellum. And, Josh is about to release his first country album.
