Carter’s Chord Are a “Wild” Combination

THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED

Congratulations to our winners:

  • Karen Free
  • Adam Stark
  • Marcie Brandenburg

As a reviewer, the first thing I do is make a list of all the songs on a CD and star the ones that I think stand out. I had every song stared for the sister trio Carter’s Chord. The daughters of former Waylon Jennings bandmates provide their amazing harmonies on this six-song EP. Released on Toby Keith’s Show Dog record label, this CD should act as a warning sign to the industry that Carter’s Chord are out to kill. The trio released an album back in 2008 that didn’t make it big, but with what I am hearing on the CD I think that this EP will be able to get them to the top of the charts. They have a Miranda Lambert/Julianne Hough vibe to ‘em with Little Big Town and Gloriana harmonies. I highly recommend picking up a copy of this EP!

“Wild Together” is a song with a mid-tempo beat.  It tells the story of a relationship and deciding how to handle it. Should they just play it safe or be “wild together”? Just get out there and chase your dreams! In the end, they choose to be the next Bonnie and Clyde and be “Wild Together”.

“A Little Less Comfortable” – This is one of the slower songs on the CD. It tells how the relationship started out with having absolutely no money. Even though they didn’t have a lot, they were happy. Why not go back to those beginning days when the relationship was so happy?

Standout Track – I cannot pick just one! EVERY song is amazing! If you can only afford one song, listen to previews and pick your favorite, but I think every song is worth getting!

CMTT has 3 Copies of Carter’s Chord “Wild Together” to giveaway!!!  Click the Enter to Win button below to enter to win.  HURRY, we will pick 3 winners at random on Wednesday, June 1st.

Carter’s Chord Releases New Music May 24th

After spending the better part of a year immersed in writing and recording, Carter’s Chord will release a new six song EP on May 24, 2011. Titled Wild Together, this collection of songs reflects the creative growth of the band not only as writers and musicians, but also in finding their voice.

Carter’s Chord is sisters Becky, Emily and Joanna Robertson, whose parents Carter and Barny Robertson toured and recorded with Waylon Jennings during the height of the legendary Outlaw movement.

“We have been surrounded by music and a lot of creative people our entire lives,” notes group member Joanna Robertson. “Growing up in California and Nashville, our influences are an interesting mix, but the common thread has always been bands that have a real organic sound, and of course great harmonies.”

Adds sister Emily, “ We really wanted this music to be a better reflection of who we are as recording artists. We spent a lot of time focusing on the writing part, and in creating the kind of sound that best represents us.”

“There’s some real attitude on this recording,” Becky says. “When you grow up with parents who were a part of the Outlaw movement, you really can’t help that.”

There is attitude (“I Can Break Hearts Too,” “Simple Little Screwed Up Life”), and of course the music on this new offering is drenched in beautiful harmonies, the kind only siblings can create. The lead single, “A Little Less Comfortable,” as well as the title track, each showcase that sound perfectly.

Wild Together is the sound of a group hitting its stride. It’s the organic beauty of Emmylou Harris, the harmonies of Fleetwood Mac and the attitude of Waylon, Willie, the Black Crowes, Miranda Lambert and all the boys and girls who through their music strove to make us all a little less comfortable.
